Sailor Moon, the next generation

Part 1

My name is Fiona Allison, aged 14, in the year 2150, and this is my story…

It was early morning when I rose to get ready for school. I ate breakfast and got dressed in a hurry, then went for a long walk around town before heading to school. As I approached the Crystal Tokyo Mall, I heard the sound of someone calling my name. I headed in the direction of the voice, worried that it might be a trap, but all I found was a small tan, white and black cat with a gold crescent moon on its forehead. I was relieved to find that there was no one there, but was puzzled. “Fiona!” the voice came again.
I looked around and called out “Where are you?” but there came no response for about five minutes. When the voice did come again, it seemed to be from the cat. “Fiona! I have searched for many years to find you, but now I have. You are the first Sailor Scout of the new generation!”

I recoiled and dropped the cat. “My name is Luna II. My mother was the same cat who found Sailor Moon. Your mother was Sailor Saturn, and now you must follow in her steps. Hotaru, your mother, was the most powerful and skilled of the scouts and took over whenever Sailor Moon was not available.”
“I thought Sailor Saturn’s last name was Tomoe?”
“Your mother changed it because she wanted you to live a normal and happy life.”
“Well, how come she didn’t tell me?”
“Once again, because she wanted you to live a normal and happy life.”
“Oh. Okaaaaaaaay. Whatever.”
“This is a big deal Fiona. You must take over as Sailor Galaxy, leader of the Sailor Scouts!”
“Look, I’m going to be late for school, so I’d better go.”
“I’ll see you at the park at 3.00pm.”
“Huh?”
“GO! I refuse to help a stupid sailor scout, my mother had to endure that with Serena.”
“Ok. Bye.”
I wandered in a strange daze until she reached school. I was late and was made stand in the hallway with a tardy sign around my neck.

Luna hung around the school until midday when Katee Wetton came out for lunch.

“Katee!”
“What?!?”
“Over here!”
“Where, all I can see is a cat?”
“That would be me!”
“AHHHHHHHHHHH! A talking cat!”
“Well duh!”
“Hey, you’re a cute pussy cat, what’s your name?”
“I’m Luna II”
“Like Sailor Moon’s cat?”
“Yes, actually that’s what I’ve come to talk to you about”
“What? I meet a talking cat, and all she wants to talk about is a myth about our fair queen, Neo Queen Serenity?”
“NO! Luna is my mother, but you can call me that. Sailor Moon is real. You are the daughter of Sailor Mercury. Sailor Mercury was the most dependable of the scouts, always giving wise information. A valuable asset to the cause. As her daughter, you must become a scout. You were born to be Sailor Star, the wise and careful scout.”
“Wow, but I thought Mercury’s surname was Mizuno?”
“It was, but she changed it so that you wouldn’t have to live your life wondering who she was.”
“I thought Sailor Pluto was the smart one.”
“Well, she was, but not as much as Mercury.”
‘Great, just what I need, exams are almost here, so shouldn’t I be studying?”
“Finally, a scout, other than Mercury and Pluto, that believes in studying. I must go and round up the others. We all meet at the park at 3.00pm today.”
“Ok. Bye then.”
Who are the other scouts? Katee thought to herself as she headed to the library to study.

Somewhere else in the school, a black, tan and white cat found herself in the computer room, looking for someone.

“Gemma?” Luna called.
Gemma Guinea turned to face her best friend, which was me, “Fiona, did you hear something?”
“No.”
“Gemma!!!”
“This isn’t funny Fiona.”
“Fiona!” Luna cried desperately.
“Fiona, can you come with me to my locker?”

Gemma and I went down to her locker, followed closely by a cat.

“Gemma, look down”
“Fiona, did you say something?”
“No.”
“Gemma look down and you’ll see a cat, that’s me!”
“Fiona, that cat’s talking?!?”
“No it’s not, I’m going.”
“Gemma, I am Luna II.”
“Can you please explain why you’re talking?”
“Certainly. My mother was Luna, the original trainer of Sailor Moon, and your mother is Sailor Venus, the scout of love and beauty, the beauty part obviously didn’t pass on to you”
“What, a talking cat came to insult me!”
“I was only joking.”
“Well, what is it then?”
“You are now Sailor Rainbow, the new scout of love and beauty. It is now your responsibility to defend Earth from the others.”
“Why should I believe you? I mean, you’re a cat for crying out loud!”
“We will all meet in the park at 3.00pm today and you shall see the others.”
“Whatever.”

Luna continued to spot the girls she was looking for and only just made it on time to the park.

At exactly 3.00pm that afternoon nine girls arrived at Crystal Tokyo Gardens, otherwise known as the park.

I looked around for signs of the strange cat and eventually found her.

“What took you so long Luna?”
“You scouts aren’t exactly easy to find. Luckily I met my brother Artemis II on the way here so I could find the others. You should all know each other.”
“Where are they all?”
“I have given them all transformation wands, here’s yours so change and look for the girls in sailor scout costumes.”

I transformed and glanced around the grounds. It didn’t take long to spot the eight others and I ran over to them. The girls I could see were all from my school except for one of them. Two of them had just transferred to my school recently and the one who wasn’t from my school was the eighteen-year-old from McDonalds. I immediately recognised the others. All of my friends were there. Katee Wetton – Sailor Star, Gemma Guinea – Sailor Rainbow, Kirsty McNamara – Sailor Sunbeam, Alycia Vardy – Sailor Comet, Sarah Muirhead – Sailor Snowflake, Kate Rhode – Sailor Storm, Amy Mair – Sailor Time and Rini Tsukino – Chibi Moon. Amy, I recognised as the girl from McDonalds, and Alycia and Sarah were the transfer students. They all said that they had been visited by Luna and were told to wait for the one from Saturn. When I told them that that was me, Kirsty freaked out so majorly, I mean, Kirsty has always been kinda bossy, so, for me to be the boss over her was shocking news!

Luna explained our history. I’m the daughter of Sailor Saturn, Katee – Sailor Mercury, Gemma – Sailor Venus, Kirsty – Sailor Uranus, Alycia – Sailor Mars, Sarah – Sailor Neptune, Kate – Sailor Jupiter, Amy – Sailor Pluto and Rini – Sailor Moon.

We transformed back and sat down to talk about how we found out from Luna about everything. Kirsty said that Luna told her that too much raw capsicum was bad for her, and everyone else around her. We all laughed about that, but our laughter was cut short by the sounds of screaming. We didn’t hesitate to transform, but that seriously takes time. Five minutes later, we were witnessing our first nemesis. I really hate it when people don’t like me, and these monsters definitely didn’t like me. The person controlling the monsters came and said to us,
“So, the scouts have come to fight again. You didn’t really think I was defeated did you? You may have beaten me once, but never twice.”
“Hey, hang on, who are you?” that was Sailor Storm/Kate of course.
“Don’t you remember? You only tried to kill me thirty years ago! I am the great male witch, Cloud Strife! Hang on, you guys must be the next generation, you’re too young otherwise!”
“Hey, my father has told me heaps about you!” Rini screamed.
“Well duh! You have grown up Rini, last time I saw you, you were only six years old, but that was when you visited the past, don’t tell me you’ve forgotten! You were all born at exactly the same time. No wonder you are all in the same class. Anyway, back to business, but this time there is no meddling man to interfere. HAH HAH HAH!!! Now I shall defeat you! Minions go, kill!”
“Galactic aurora blind!”
“Time collapse crush!”
“Chibi Moon pink heart attack!”
“Storm lightening zap!”
“Argh! You’ve defeated my minions, but I will be back Sailor amateurs!”
“Yeah and we’ll be ready!” I just had to scream that out.

Two hours later, we were all relaxing back in Rini’s room at the Crystal Palace.

“Where did those attacks come from Luna?” Sarah asked, absent-mindedly gnawing on the tip of her hip length hair.
“They were inside of you, it took a couple of transformations to get them out though, but Rini has been practicing them for a few years.”
‘So you mean, we were destined to be Sailor Scouts, but it was too dangerous to know until we were old enough to need our powers?” That, of course, was the ever studying and logical Katee.
“Spot on, just like your mother always was.”
Katee blushed at this last comment and we all laughed.

At first I thought being a scout would be all work and hardships, but maybe, just maybe, it won’t be so bad after all!

The end.
