For most of us, this will be the first Alumnae Parade that will not have graduating seniors, juniors draped in ivy garlands and the oldest, most stalwart alumnae marching or in wheelchairs at the head of the parade. This parade will be different, a little quicker, less of a fuss. Our participation in the traditional event will be enormously enhanced by the wit and word-smithing of our Parade Chair, Barbara Lauren and her committee. Barbara is the dream chairman, she has a collection of parade sign slogans from the past, remembering particularly clever rhymes, puns and word play. Our signs will be memorable, selectively chosen from samples sent in or spoken by classmates across the country. Each enhances "Exceeding All Expectations," our chosen motto for this reunion. To further add to our parade presence, we need a few more costumes of 1969. Debbie Slavitt Joost likely will bring her yellow gym suit from Paris for its regular appearance at the front of the class. Sue Ann Levin Schiff, our president, says that she, who hated every minute of her two years of gym, also has a yellow gym suit buried somewhere in her house. She promises to find it and her Chapin Chaecma T-shirt. A Wilder Wench T-shirt has also emerged. The parade committee is still looking for a Jordan Jocks T-shirt and other classmates with house T-shirts of the era. Someone with great legs is also being encouraged to come with ribbed turtleneck and mini-skirt. For those of us with no special house T-shirts, yellow gym suits or great gamins, the traditional white dress, pants or an historic white frock are required. Please wear white sneakers, as we very likely will have yellow shoelaces to go with our yellow sunglasses.
