Tim Tarter
Location: Carlinville, Illinois (30
miles south of Springfield). I came to Carlinville originally in 1991 after stops in
Lincoln, back in Clinton and in Farmer City. The past 2 years I did a circle moving
to Shelbyville, then to Hillsboro and back to Carlinville.
Job: I am currently an Account
Executive and Branch Manager of the Carlinville Office with Talley Radio Stations which
include WSMI AM 1540, WSMI-FM 106.1, and the brand new WAOX-FM 105.3. I also get to
do quite a bit of broadcasting of high school sports which was always what I wanted to do.
Leisuretime Activities: From
November until March, you'll find me at a high school basketball game just about every
night if I can find a game. When I'm not at a game, I am online (yes, I'm addicted!)
I do take a break to catch some Cardinal baseball games in the summer.
Favorite Memories: I think being at
the World Series in 1982 for games six and seven when the Cardinals won it is still a
highlight. I have also had the opportunity to do several state tournament games over
the years in radio including Mt. Pulaski's State Champion Volleyball squad in 1989, and
Nokomis winning back-to-back Girls Basketball State Championships the past two years.
Future Plans: Just keep doing what I am
doing and having fun! I have a job that is very enjoyable and therefore, I don't
have to work!
