Alethia’s Complete Past ( Compiled October 26, 1996 ) Kylen Christine Miles Alethia was born in Japan. She had three brothers; Beldin, Yoshi, and Kamikaze and two sisters; Luna and Kee Lee. She lived with her mother and father and her Master’s family as well. One day, while Alethia was still a pup, both human and dog families moved to Ireland during the worst of the Protestant / Catholic wars. Her master became overly involved in trying to evict the British from the country and was shot to death one night by British soldiers. Alethia’s father, who leapt to his Master’s defense, was gunned down, as well. A week later, the Master’s widow sold Alethia’s mother and pups as well. Beldin, Yoshi, Kamikaze, Luna, and Kee Lee were all sold to various people, but Alethia was sold to a scientific research center in America known as the Perris Park Institute which was gathering hundreds of dogs for the Perris Project. The Perris Project was a hush-hush demonstration where Alethia, with literally hundreds of others dogs were tested on and manipulated until they developed into Cano Sapiens. Alethia spent years there and grew into a young adult: aged 21 in dog years. From the beginning the dogs were trained in military intelligence and special government services. Each one of them were transformed into soldiers- an American Military project that would be tested and experimented with during the next American war. It was here, at the Perris Park Institute that Alethia met and fell in love with the akita, Renegade, a dog of significant military rank. The two fell into a deep love that they thanked God for every day. However, trouble began to rise. One of the Perris Park employees actually was a spy and belonged to an Anti-Government group. He actually succeeded in converting over 100 canine Perrisians who then broke off and joined the human Anti-government group and named themselves The Dogstar. Tension gathered over the months to come. The Dogstar constantly sent messages, trying to convert the remaining Perrisians and make them leave behind the “Government Evil” they were taking part in. The Dogstar was refused again and again. Then, one night, Alethia awoke to noise. She opened the door to her room and saw chaos in the hallways. She stopped a soldier rushing by and asked him what was going on. He promptly replied that the Dogstar had attacked Perris Park and that there was battling on the training grounds. As soon as Alethia hurried out to battle, she was jumped by one of the Dogstar. He heaved the butt of his gun at her and knocked her out, leaving her for dead. Alethia awoke hours later in the midst of bodies and smoldering destruction. She stumbled towards the center and met up with the head of research; Dr. Brummel. He told Alethia that all the other Perrisians were dead. The Dogstar had taken a small group of prisoners but was in the process of killing them. The devastation was too great, and Brummel said he wouldn’t attempt such a project ever again. All he had to show for it was over 100 dead Perrisians and over 100 ex-Perrisians running amuck. Seeing as there was nothing else for her, Alethia begged Brummel to be converted back into a normal dog- something she hadn’t been in near three years. However, Brummel pointed out that the Perris Project had never intended for the dogs to ever return to their God-given forms, so he didn’t ever research how. He did, however, know of two men who did: Professor William Shepherd and the General Parvo. Brummel purposely sent Alethia out looking to Parvo for help, although he knew very well she was likely to be killed. In fact, that was what Brummel was hoping for. He wanted Alethia killed, for he feared that as the last true Perrisian, she would release all the information on the Perris Project plus the fact the destruction of a giant, expensive government project had gone down the drain due to Brummel’s carelessness when selecting human employees. The government could charge Brummel harshly for that and he feared this more than anything. Alethia found her way to Parvo’s operation within a few days. She snuck in well enough and spent hours exploring the maze of halls, looking for papers. She found her way into a strange office with a long, out-curving wall with numerous one-way windows. Here, she found papers that pictured blueprints to a machine, and from reading the text, learned that this machine could convert dogs both ways- all legs to 2 and then back again. She was about to run with these plans and head back to Perris Park when she heard a strange sound. She looked towards the curved wall and looked out the windows. There, she saw the Road Rovers, who had wandered into a room they had figured was just full of mirrors, having no idea that they could be seen because they were one-way windows. Alethia was frozen stiff with awe. Others like her! They weren’t Perrisians, that was for sure, but definitely Cano Sapiens. Alethia had not known of such mutations outside the research center because the institute had never subjected them to “outside” affairs. Just then Parvo and some human soldiers entered the office. Alethia ducked behind a desk and watched as Parvo strode to the windows and looked out of them, smiling. “Look,” he had said, “so unaware. They won’t know what hit them. I have finally trapped them. So long, Rovers.” With that the soldiers lined up in front of the windows and readied enormous guns. Alethia saw this distraction as a chance to make her escape, get back to Perris Park, and become a normal dog and forget all the horrors of her life. However, something crept into her mind. She had slept unconscious while her people had died all around her, and she wasn’t going to let that happen again. Tucking the Cano Mutator plans into her pants, she rushed upon the nearest soldier. He was surprised, and near toppled because of her attack. However, he regained his balance and grabbed a hold of her and swung her through the window. She went crashing through the glass and rolled cut and bleeding to the feet of the very astonishment Road Rovers. She could vaguely hear gunshots and cries of anger, and then she slipped into black. Alethia awoke in Mission Control’s infirmary, her cuts and wounds cleaned and dressed. The Rovers then introduced themselves to her, and she told them about herself and where she was from. That night, she snuck from Mission Control and headed back to Perris Park. To her surprise, she found Brummel dead, but found the Belgian Shepherd, Gage, an ex-Perrisian and member of the Dogstar there, wandering the premises. He had killed Brummel and was now sniffing around for firearms. Alethia tried to escape undetected but failed. Gage caught her and abused her, trying to convince her to join him and the rest of the Dogstar. She refused every time, and the abuse carried on in many forms. After about 20 minutes Hunter showed up and had a fight with Gage. Gage got the worst of it and fled. Alethia was grateful, but asked Hunter why he had come. He had told her that he had figured she had come here. He said that the team needed her and all her information to help them collapse the Dogstar, who now were mercilessly killing innocents and citizens across the U.S. Seeing as the blueprints to the Cano Mutator were worth nothing now that Brummel was dead, Hunter promised her that in return for helping the Road Rovers and their cause, she would be allowed to use one of the Trans-Dogmagfiers to restore herself to Canis Familiaris form and be on her way. Alethia agreed. Alethia spent the next couple of months helping the Rovers track down clues and leads to the Dogstar’s place of operation. She also began to fall into a secret love with Hunter. During this time Alethia’s affiliation with the Road Rovers became publicly well known, and with the testimony of Gage, the Dogstar learned of this. Alethia was their main weakness, because she knew much of them since she used to laugh with them and sit next to them in the cafeteria of Perris Park what seemed like ages ago. And so, one day a box arrived at Mission Control, addressed to Alethia. When Alethia opened it while surrounded by the curious Rovers, Alethia got a horrific surprise. Inside was Renegade’s head and a note that read: “You should have seen his face when we entered the Prisoners’ cells. We told him that you had joined a group of miserable sons-of-bitches called the Road Rovers and was looking to finish us. `Alethia?’ he asked, ‘she is still alive?’ Then hack! Took his head off right in front of the other prisoners. We knew you loved him, so we decided to send you his regal head. Here you are. Leave the Rovers now, or we’ll send you the head of another Perrisian Prisoner ever freaking day!” - The Dogstar Alethia wasn’t going to slink into the shadows. This was it. The Dogstar must fall. Renegade had been kept alive all this time and had survived up until now. If there were still others like Renegade imprisoned by the Dogstar, they needed help. Alethia spent all her energy and breath tracking the Dogstar, and finally a location was made. The Road Rovers, along with numerous agents and serious American Military troops stormed the Dogstar headquarters. While the teams were taking out the Dogstar, Alethia and the Road Rovers searched for where the Perrisian prisoners were being held. When they got there, they found 23 Perrisian Canines slumped over with fresh blood running from their heads. Gage was also there, with a smoking gun in his hands. He had rushed immediately to the prison cells when the government penetrated the headquarters and had shot to death all the Perrisian Prisoners- he wasn’t going to let Alethia win. He then turned the gun on her and in a quick movement, Hunter pulled out his own gun and shot and killed Gage. Within 30 minutes the Dogstar had been overtaken. The Cano Sapien members were all executed then and there rather than all of them being taken back to be put to sleep. This process truly made Alethia the last Perrisian in the world. As the first of the captured Dogstar canines were executed, Hunter offered to take her back to Mission Control. With a weak stomach and a heavy heart, Alethia agreed and rested up for 2 days. The moment of truth then came. Alethia was then shown to the Trans-Dogmafier’s where, after this last adventure, she could now become a normal dog again and chance a second life on her own. Or, Hunter had said, she could chance a life with them. She was welcome to join the Road Rovers as a permanent member. Alethia thought it over to herself, and then, mostly for her love for Hunter, joined. As the others, Alethia was then turned over to the Japanese President, and a luge was put in for her. Alethia, though, unlike the others, possesses no super power because she was developed at Perris Park. She does, however, rely on trickery, cunning, tricks, and meditative thoughts. Alethia loves you all and will answer anything. If you have any questions regarding her past, her future, her life, or anything, write to Exilo@hotmail.com with “Dear Alethia” in the subject.
