At the end of January 1999 Darline, D.J and a friend named Renee made the 9 hour trip from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia to Nashville, Tennnessee to be in the audience when Ricky was guest host of the WSM Midnight Jamboree radio show. Before the show we attended a performance of the Grand Old Opry where we saw Kenny Chesney, Blackhawk, The Wilkensons, and our hometown girl, Danni Leigh as well as all the regulars. Afterwards, it was off and across the street to the Texas Troubadour Theater where we met up with other Greggheads, Lela included! We all passed the time visiting and checking out the Ernest Tubbs Record Shop and just having a good time. Once Ricky and the guys arrived, we were allowed to go on in and get our seats so we could all sit together. By this time, we were starting to get just a little tired...we'd driven all night and had only a catnap that day. Remember, by the time the show started it was 1 am our time! But, even with the lack of sleep...we sure enjoyed the show..and would go again in a heartbeat!
