Employment History:

I am a 1985 graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Public Policy. My double major provided me a rather extensive background in economics, cost-benefit analysis, statistics, computers, and the business and social aspects of technology in our society. I was also one of the initial participants in the CMU Robotics Institute’s Autonomous Vehicle Program. I was responsible for the design and construction of the first robotic auto-leveling stereo vision camera mounting mechanism for use by autonomous vehicles, thus providing me an extensive computer programming background.

Selected for the Navy's Nuclear Power program, I completed their intensive post-graduate Nuclear Engineering program and served 4 years active duty onboard Nuclear Attack Submarines as division officer and Nuclear Quality Assurance officer.

I chose to leave active duty in 1990 to take the position of Island Manager of a resort island construction project on Spanish Cay, Bahamas. I served as the owner's direct representative on the island responsible all operational, engineering, and management decisions on the island.

In 1992, I moved back to West Palm Beach and took the position of R & D Engineer at RGF Environmental Systems Inc., a small, entrepreneurial company founded here in 1985. I served as the Director of Engineering from 1994 to 1997 and was promoted to Vice President of Engineering / Research and Development in 1997.

I was accepted into the Nova Southeastern University School of Business and Entrepreneurship Executive MBA program in September of 1997 and will graduate in April of 1999.

In 1998 I left RGF to pursue consulting opportunities that had presented themselves and have been consulting in the area of engineering design, manufacturing and information systems management.

I have served 2 years as president of Northboro Park Historic Neighbor Association, in downtown West Palm Beach. The association has been very active and instrumental in the City's renovation efforts of the previously rundown Historic Neighborhoods.

As an active reservist in the Naval Reserve, I am presently serving as Assistant Administration officer of CINCLANTFLEET 108 in Miami, FL. My main area of responsibility is Information Systems management.

I served as Director of Communication, Computer and Information Systems for Exercise Fuentes Defensas-99 in Norfolk VA. This Joint Warfare Exercise encompassed over 30,000 active duty military personnel from all four Armed Services that relied heavily on Web-based information flow. As director I was responsible for all areas information management including, network hardware, bandwidth allocation, TCP/IP server , WAN, MAN , and LAN routing, network performance, security, and user education and troubleshooting.

Previously, I have served as Executive Officer for 3 years of NAVAL EMBARKED ADVISORY TEAM 108 West Palm Beach, FL., and Staff Planning officer for the Commander Military Sealift Command, Southwest Asia, at Mac Dill AFB Tampa, FL.

Experience with automated systems and computers:

Attending Carnegie-Mellon University in the in the early 1980’s provided me with a broad computer background ranging from UNIX based DEC mainframes, to Motorola 68000 assembly language robotic controllers.

I have been using dial-up connections to large mainframes since the first Apple Macintosh made its premier in 1984 back in the days of the 300-baud modem. Most recent online learning was accomplished using the NSU PlaceWare® system for MMIS –653, last quarter.

My work with the CMU Autonomous Vehicle Program allowed me to utilize C and 68000 assembly language skills I learned in classes for real-world application. I have also programmed in Basic and Pascal.

I have upgraded my computers and software almost continuously since then and have utilized them for virtually every aspect of my life both personally and professionally.

I have a strong grasp of spreadsheet databases and am presently immersing myself in relational databases such as Access and Oracle. I am very proficient at creating web sites using FrontPage

98 and have created interactive web sites for my Naval Reserve units and for my previous company.
