The colorful descriptions of all of the acts of horror that people have justified using God's name makes you rethink the current trend in Capital punishment. Just as we look to ancient civilizations and their practices as being absurd and barbaric, might other cultures in the future see the same things about us today? We lawfully torture criminals. We kill and decide who dies and we kill in horrible ways. We justify each death using God and our own personal morals. "An eye for an eye" we say, and then we kill criminals by becoming murderers ourselves. We sabotage out own position by lowering ourselves to the brutality of the incarcerated.
