"Have you witnessed the victim being raped, stabbed, shot, not to mention the agony of the family left behind? You think only of the killers plight, who will not be tortured or suffer, just instant death." Page 108

This vocabulary is vivid and it justifies the death penalty in a sense. Victim can be so abstract but when the words raped, stabbed and shot are linked to it, you can almost imagine the absolute terror. Such disregard for humanity is disgusting. Killing is wrong and cruel. It deserves serious punishment. Does that mean killing the criminal? Perhaps, but I think not. Of course, kill my mother and I'll have a different perspective. Although killing is wrong, should we kill in defense of it? It's a bit like people who are extremely pro-life and then they go and blow up abortion clinics and kill people. The killing only sabotages their protesting. Most simply, life is unfair and killing the killers is only demeaning the quality that we say we want life to have. By killing people in revenge, we are, on some levels, no better than the monsters themselves.
