"Forgiveness is never going to be easy. Each day it must be prayed for an sought and won." Page 245
This theme is simply said but true. Lloyd LeBlanc, whose son was murdered, has forgiven Patrick Sonnier who killed him. Lloyd said that he didn't want Sonnier to be executed, he merely wanted an apology, which he got. He said that when he identified his son's body, he had already forgiven the person who killed him. Forgiveness is not instantaneous, it needs to be worked for and earned. It is a struggle against the path of least resistance and popular thought. This theme of forgiveness is special because it is not only the forgiveness that a god can extend to us, but also a forgiveness that we can both give ourselves and others.
