REAL NAME: Katrina Thomas

AGE: 16

POWERS: Magically based powers: enhanced strength, quickness, and endurance, and spells for fire bolts, paralysis bolts, force shields, flight, and exorcism of summoned creatures.

APPEARANCE: 5'8", 150 lbs, 32B-24-33 as Kat, 6'0", 170 lbs, 36C-26-32 as Firemane. Hair is long in both-orange red as Kat, bright real red as Firemane. Costume is a leotard like Powergirl's, except with a definite fire motif. No mask, knee-high boots a shade or two darker than Powergirl, plus opera-length fire-motif gloves.

FIRST APPEARANCE: Guardians #1

BACKGROUND: Like Powergirl, Katrina's life was going along steadily, with little to differentiate her from the thousands of other sweet sixteens in the world. Her parents and younger brother may have annoyed her, but she was safe with them. Safe enough that she wanted the adventure of going out, a practice her father reluctantly agreed to.

One such date would change her life. After leaving a club, her date was spell-bound by Arcanus, a black magician, and attempted to rape Kat. Only the timely intervention of Richard Puller saved her honor. It was her commitment to help others as Rich had helped her that drew the mystical spirit Carlysa to her. Firemane was born.

Firemane's history with the team has been rocky at times. Her separation from her family has been trying, but her affection for Rich kept her going. The trials have given her strength that she never knew she had, but her trials are not over.
