REAL NAME: Juan Cepeda

AGE: 26

POWERS: Gadgeteer. Most common devices include body armor, flight boots, and gauntlets with a variety of melee and ranged weapons. He also is a competent mechanic and pilot.

APPEARANCE: A handsome Hispanic man, 5' 10" tall and weighing 175 lbs. He always is wearing a set of headphones to listen to the "techno" music that he loves.

FIRST APPEARANCE: Guardians #13

BACKGROUND: Juan Cepeda is the oldest son of Mexican immigrants who settled in Phoenix, Az. Juan's brilliance, especially with mathematics and physics, appeared early, but his parents did not have the resources to send him to the finest schools. An Army ROTC recruiter heard of the situation, and offered Juan a scholarship, promising him a non-combat posting. With his parents' blessings, Juan attended MIT, graduating with honors with degrees in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. True to his word, the ROTC recruiter had Juan posted to Aberdeen Proving Grounds, where he got to test a variety of high-tech weapons. Juan loved the work, but disliked having to take orders and do paperwork. When his four-year active-duty hitch was up, he left the Army, intending to work for a defense contractor. Brian Carpenter got to him first, offering him a job with the best technology around and a chance for some action. Juan jumped at the chance.
