The Protector aircraft were built by Gulfstream under an exclusive contract with the Department of Justice.  Gulfstream replaced the cargo area on their normal corporate planes with a secondary engine to provide Vertical Take Off and Landing (VTOL) capability, and replaced the straight wings with swept wings for higher performance.  The Guardians maintain these aircraft at their new base, along with the two ex-military pilots.  The Guardians favorite tactic with the Protectors is to fly over a crisis area and jump out in mid-air, using the flight powers of the individual members to descend much more safely than the aircraft could. The swept wings make the aircraft stand out, despite their lack of markings.  There has been some debate over giving them a distinctive paint job for morale purposes, but so far nothing has come of this.
