Phantasy Star IV Walkthrough

Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 / Part 4 / Part 5

Dungeon: Bio Plant

After going through the door in Birth Valley, you arrive here. To get through the Bio Plant, you'll probably need a few monomates and dimates because some monsters can put up quite a fight. If you follow the yellow line, you should get there fine. If you want some of the items here, you'll have to get them now because after you get out of here, the place will blow. When you get to the fork in the road where there are two elevators - one on the left and one on the right, take the right to get to Professor Holt. If you want to get the Graphite Crown, take the left passage. Items to be found in this dungeon includes nothing on basement 1, Cure Paral on the second basement, Graphite in the third basement, west section, nothing on floor B3, central section, a Ceramic Sword and some antidote on basement 4, and nothing on basement 5.

When you find Holt, you'll see that he's with a girl named Rika and a computer named Seed. Seed will explain to you about Motavia's problems and ask you to shut down Nurvus, which supplies power to all the systems in Motavia. First, you'll have to rescue Demi - the only one able to stop Nurvus... After you leave with Rika, Seed will self destruct and Rika will join your group.

Town: Nalya

Nalya, a disaster area across the bridge north of Zema, is your next stop. Not much to see here, except for the damage of a ship crash caused. If you want to stay a night somewhere, do it at your house in Aiedo, which is just west of here.

Town: Aiedo

Here you are, your hometown at last! Here lies a huge marketplace, a bakery, a prison, your house, a Hunter's Guild, and much more! If you want good quality weapons and armor, you should go to the one near the guild. If you want to rest, rest for free at your house! What more could you ask for?

Guild mission number one is now available, The Ranch Owner.

Guild Mission: The Ranch Owner

First off, don't even think about taking this mission unless each of your characters are at least at level 12! The sandworm you have to fight in Mile is INCREDIBLY hard at low levels and you should save before taking it on. Just walk around the ranch in Mile and you'll fight the sandworm.

When battling the sandworm, make sure Hahn heals with Res and Gryz with monomates and dimates, while everybody else uses their most powerful skills and techniques. Don't be surprised if you die on this thing, escpeacially if it's your first try.

After you beat the sandworm, go back to the guild to collect your pay... 5000 Meseta!

Dungeon: Wreckage

This is an optional dungeon located north of Nalya. I reccomend you come here, because there are lots of useful items and the robots there will raise your levels a bit. Tthe end is a computer which tells you about the ships that escaped from Parma in the 'Great Collapse' when the sattelite Gaira crashed into Parma (as seen in Phantasy Star II and Phantasy Star III). Items in this dungeon include a Ceramic Shield, a dimate, and 1500 Meseta on the first level, a Ceramic Knife and Mail on the first floor basement, and nothing on basement 2.

Dungeon: Passageway

This is the cave north of Aiedo, and a great training ground I must say. Zio's troops use this cave to travel between Zio's Fort and other places on Motavia. If you need to gain levels, just find some Zol Slugs, kill off all but two, and let them fuse together. Now you'll have a Meta Slug, which will give each member in a party of five around 650 experience. If you're below level 12, you should use magic to help you. Items in this single-floored dungeon includes a dimate and some cure paral.

Town: Kadary

Click here to obtain background, store, and hidden items information.

This is a town north of Zio's Fort where the people are on their hands and knees worshipping Zio. Here lies the great, mysterious, and purely evil Zio's Church, which drives the people around like mindless zombies crying "Zio!". Stop in the inn and buy some dimates before going to Zio's Fort, though.

Dungeon: Zio's Fort

You are here at last! Now to find Zio... and try to defeat him! You must navigate this area and learn all the dead ends... and if you fall in a hole, take the chest, exit, and restart the dungeon! Don't get too weak by the monsters before fighting Juza on the third floor! Items in this dungeon include 2000 Meseta, Moon Dew, Laser Barrier, and a dimate on the first floor, nothing on basement 2, a laser sword and claw on the third level, and nothing on the fourth or fifth level.

When fighting Juza, use Gryz to heal with dimates and Hahn with Res or Gires. If Rika has the Sar technique, use it when Juza does his Force Flash skill on you. After you beat him, stairs will open up for you to go up to levels four and five. When you get to level five, take off Alys's and Hahn's equipment, for they'll leave you're party after you fight Zio. There is NO POSSIBLE WAY to beat Zio until you fight him the second time in Nurvus.

Now Alys is hurt badly from the attack and you must escape to Krup. Hahn will stay with Alys and will not come back until later in ther game. Gryz will tell you that Rune and Grandfather Dorin went to the Ladea Tower across the patch of quicksand west of the cave to Tonoe. Demi will tell you about a Land Rover, which you can get on by using it in your item menu, directly south of Krup. The Land Rover can cross quicksand like nothing at all! Demi will also join you now.

Place: Machine Center

The machine center is where you get the Land Rover, and will appear from underground. To get the Land Rover, use the Control Key from the chest just after the elevator. Don't forget to step on the platform near the exit to heal yourselves!

After you get the Land Rover, drive across the large patch of quicksand to Monsen.

Guild Mission: Tinkerbell's Dog

Tinkerbell lost her dog! Easy as pie for 2000 Meseta... espeicially since you'll be using bakery foods on this mission! First, sign up at the guild and thengo to buy some shortcake at Aiedo Bakery. To get there, follow the wall to the left of the front part of town until you reach a house. You can buy the cake downstairs from the chef. Now go to one of these three places: Krup, Monsen, or Termi. Usually he's in Monsen when you apply for the mission. Now just give him the cake by talking to him and you've done it! Note that if you don't have shortcake, he'll run to another town.

Town: Monsen

Click here to obtain background and store information.

Monsen is a disaster area swarming with sandworms and trembling from earthquakes. Talk to the person on the other side of town and he'll tell you more during one and Demi will tell you that the Plate System is out of control.

Dungeon: Plate System

Located northeast of Monsen is this system which controls Motavia's tectonic plates. Your mission here is to fight your way to the main computer and shut it down. You don't have to do this, but you should because the enemies here give loads of experience and there are a bunch of goodies for Demi to use here. Iitems in theis dungeon include a repair kit on the first floor, ceramic armor and titanium gear on level B1, nothing on the second floor basement, and a laser knife, barrier, and axe. Also on the third floor basement is Demi's Phononmezer skill which blast super sonic waves at your opponents.
