True Dual Exhaust

This custom exhaust was created using aluminized 2.5" piping (not mandrel bent). Originally, the mufflers used were Dynomax Ultraflow mufflers (#17267) 3.00" in / 3.00" out 12" long and 6" round (That is what is pictured). Now I use Dynomax Race Magnum Bullets part # 24215. I found I needed 3 of them to make it bearable. They are 2.5" inlet/outlet and 4" round by 12" long. I changed to these mufflers because I was experiencing one of the mufflers bouncing on the body on hard launches. There was only a 1/4" tolerance with these (#17267). I also wanted to put on the Mecham exhaust tips on which would not fit on the old system. The Race Magnum Bullets are louder but are a few pounds lighter each and they don't bounce on the body at all.

There is an "x-pipe" where the two pipes meet right where the g-load brace is located. The "x-pipe" consists of a 4" slit cut in each pipe then the two pipes are welded together at that point.
This type of custom work is very difficult and can take 10 + hours of labor. There are some places that have 1/4" clearances. A place called Road Tech in the DFW, TX area has done this type many times. He used to charge $600 including mufflers. This was back in 1999 so I don't know what he would charge now. A friend of mine did the job who had a lot of experience and is not associated with any muffler shop.
