Ireland is my home and as such, I'm very proud of my country and specifically, my hometown of Galway City.
Ireland has a long and wonderous history which I'm sure you're all interested in learning more about it, but I have a feeling that I may bore you to death talking about it. If you are interested in learning more about the history of Ireland, there are many good books available from sources such as Amazon.Com, Barnes and Noble or from the Cambridge University Press. There are also hundreds of Websites providing historical information on Ireland and I've included a few as links on this page.
Galway City is my home. The Irish name for Galway is Gaillimh. It's filled with narrow streets, old stone and wooden shopfronts and many fine pubs and places to eat. Galway City is the administrative capital of County Galway, the home of University College Galway and the fourth largest city in Ireland after Dubllin, Cork and Limerick. Galway is a major Gaelic centre where the Irish language is widely spoken in everyday conversation. I've also included a few Irish language sites on this page so that you may become exposed to the language and culture should you care to take a look at them.
My favourite pubs (as of my last trip home during the spring of 1998) are the "An Pucan Pub" and "Claddagh Pub" and a great place for seafood that is out of this world is "Cafe' Ui' Neill". I also enjoy visiting with friends and riding bicycles or hiking, taking a day trip to the Inishmor (Aran Islands) or simply hanging out and watching the tourists.
So, if you have any interest in visiting Ireland see one of the tourism links on this page and book your flight! I know that you'll love Ireland and that you'll enjoy your holiday there.
