Hi,and welcome to Armadillo Lodge

Some of the history of Armadillo Lodge goes as follows. The picture above is of the barn that started it all. The barn was on my sister Loni's farm approxemtly 20 miles from where the camp is located.During the week of May 1 1999 we dismantled the barn which was 20x66.We were really only after the rafters in it as they are made of 3x5 hemlock. They look like clear ceadar. As we got farther into dismantling,I suggested to my cousin Rick(who owns the camp and property around it)that we use the frame from the barn as the structure for the camp.

He thought about it some, and decided that that would be a great idea(I have the odd one).It took 6 of us a solid week of work to dismantle the barn and move it to the camp site. That would be the entire project for 1999. During the week of May 1 2000,we got started on building the camp.

It was a slow start as none of us really knew anything about building anything. But with the help of the Greenman Bros.,Bob,Doug, and Rod we got the footings down and the the floor joists and plywood on.Next to go up was the frame which we saved from the barn.We only used half the barn @20x32. The stuff that we brought from Loni's farm wintered pretty good and the frame went up relatively fast.

That spring we got the basic structure up,and covered with the roof sheeting

Throughout the summer Rick and some of the other members of the camp were able to frame in the walls of the camp and get a layer of house wrap on it.Front and rear doors were also installed.

Deer season in 2000 was again spent at Bob's house where we have hunted out of since well before I started hunting. After deer season closed for the year we had a couple of days to work on the camp. We were able to get the board(of board and baton) on the front of the camp as well as one window installed before we had to leave for the winter

More text to add later, below is as the camp sits now after May 13 2001
