I don't have all the info in front of me
regarding the history behind mumming plays. I know they consisted of
groups of people who went from house to house performing plays and were to
receive payment. Unlike a traveling troupe of actors, however, these were
local folks usually performing as part of a larger observance, such as a church
holiday. We will get more accurate historical information here
later. In the meantime, to the left are links to two scripts crafted in
