I like socialized health care. Slaight made some serious dough. It's the American way. Finally, I slice my own damn bread. And without further adieu, my latest repsonse."
Wow, you are one bitter Canuck!
Isiah was the best thing to ever happen to the Raptors. They won 30
games last year(their SECOND year), one of the best expansion team
performances EVER, in ANY sport. I guess you Canucks prefer guys like
Harold Ballard, clueless idiots who steal money and deliver a crummy
product. Slaight sure filled the bill. Plus, he was a thief just like
Ballard. He took advantage of Bitove's weak financial position to steal
his interest in the Raptors for a price WELL BELOW true value. Then,
Isiah showed the loyalty to stay, and offered to buy the team AT or
ABOVE the value at which Slaight eventually bought out his 9% interest.
Slaight REFUSED this reasonable offer, because he knew Isiah would
eventually crumble, just like Bitove, because he couldn't afford to pay
his share($1M/month) of the construction cost of the new stadium. So,
Slaight STOLE Isiah's interest in the Raptors, then sold the whole mess
to the Leafs for a price WELL ABOVE what he had paid to the other
investors, including Bitove and Isiah. You are juvenile and foolish in
your praise of Slaight and disparagement of Isiah. But I guess a Toronto
fan in love with the "Ballard Mentality" needs to worship guys like
Slaight. Loyal, successful, hard-working guys like Isiah, who are in it
for something more than money, you scorn. Pitiful.
As for the Ontario tax issue, you're dreaming if you think this doesn't
impact player's decisions to come to the Raptors. It's killing ALL the
Canadian teams, F.Y.I. Only a myopic Canuck fails to see this. But I
guess it's appropriate that those who support thieves like Ballard and
Slaight would support a tax code that steals folks hard-earned money to
support a bloated, out-of-control socialist system, including that
miserable health care system you worship, which the whole world mocks
and from which people flee to the United States to avoid. Your
government performs about as well as the Maple Raps, and is run by the
same brand of thief.
BTW, the Red Wings slap the Leafs around constantly because they're
stupid, and the Pistons slap around the Raptors for the same reason.
Looks like the fans of those Toronto teams are just as stupid as their
teams. Later.
