Recent Raptors Notes
Recent Raptors Notes (April 4, 2000)
Here's some quick things I've noticed about the Toronto Raptors:
It seems that when the jumpers aren't falling, the rest of their game seems to suffer. Vince Carter is playing inside and out, not outside in. He has fallen in love with his J and doesn't take the rock to the rack, or post up opposing players.
When Carter can't hit his, he stops playing. He needs to head to the hole more often. Getting hammer, be damned, he needs to get himself going anyway he knows how to.
Tracy McGrady should never taking a jumper. His is ugly. He has a great middle game, use it.
Charles Oakley seems tired. So does AD (Antonio Davis). Use JT (John Thomas) and Yogi (Michael Stewart) at least 5 minutes a game each, to spell the aforementioned two.
Kevin Willis is ok, but his low post game has sucked of late. But he is the only true low post threat the Raptors have. And when the jumpers aren't falling, he gets doubled teamed.
Pull Mugsy Bogues when he's getting schooled defensively. He's a liability. Play Alvin Williams more at point guard. He is a better defensive player than Bogues. Play Dee Brown less. Play Dell Curry more. Yank Doug Christie when he can't hit his jumper. Post Christie more often as well, he has a mismatch against most starting point guards.
I think that about covers it.
