Othello
Welcome to my Othello program. To play select the players from the drop
down menus and click start. The help button will display valid moves during
each turn. Upon completion the score will be logged so I can gather some
statistics, and then you can click start to begin a new game.
Have fun!
Other Othello Java Applets...
Here is a list of applets I found that are pretty cool because they
either win all the time (at least when I play) or have a cool interface.
-
NAKAGAWA Masami - this one is very nicely done. You can
choose a variety of skill levels, who goes first, or play against
another human. The pieces are spheres which rotate to show you
which pieces would be flipped if you play in that spot. On the
higher difficulties this game is pretty tough.
- Frog Reverse
- a very cute Othello applet. The pieces are frogs that jump and
flip themself over when you make a move. Very quick decision making
on the part of the computer and it still charges ahead right near
the end to humiliate you time after time.
- Flip -
very nice graphics and 3-D style pieces that flip themselves over
like the Frog Reverse game. Also includes an advice feature to
suggest moves, an Undo button, and a difficulty level.
- OGAI -
Othello Game Artificial Intelligence - an implementation written
by one of my fellow classmates. Originally written in C he recently
converted it to Java. Not quite as pretty as the other applets
but I have rarely finished the game with more than 10 pieces!
