Freshwater gallery
With 9 aquarium tanks, this
gallery shows the great diversity of fish originating in rivers, lakes,
lagoons, estuaries, marshes and swamps; from the mysterious gars, majestic
oscars and fantastic goldfish to the shy crocodile and ferocious piranhas
among others.
The Tropical gar, pictured here
in the background, living link to the era of the dinosaurs, observe with
their strange lizard shaped heads and long sharp teeth. A lung like air
bladder permits them to breathe air and unusual diamond shaped ganoid scales
cover their bodies.
