Our Sigsworth family

Just north of Pateley Bridge (the squared off area on the map above, according to information provided in the Ordnance Survey Map, Explorer 26, Nidderdale), are the Sigsworth Grange, Sigsworth Crags, and Sigsworth Moor. The area of Nidderdale was described in the 19th century as being the Switzerland of England. At one time the area was covered with lush forests of pine, birch, and hazel. However, in time it was left barren by farmers clearing land to graze their animals.
