It's time for another deconstruction. This is the first one I'm doing with a DVD instead of videotape. I have to say DVD is much easier than tape. Plus printing out the transcript so I can work from it makes things so much easier. I can actually get more done in less time. Cool!
Anyway, enough of that babble. On to the "show"
The sounds of medical equipment can be heard as some doctors work on a patient in a train car. Apparently, there was no hospital available for the butchery that is to be performed. The doctors are all wearing gas masks. They make an incision across the stomach of their patient. Green liquid bubbles out. Then the cut heals itself instantly. The doctors look at one another.
<I am seriously starting to think that doctors have a sadistic streak. Certainly this set of doctors seem to. Even if a person can heal instantly cutting someone open just to watch the healing process is just mean, not to mention just plain wrong.>
Potomac Yard
Arlington, Virginia
It's nighttime. <Wouldn't want some unsuspecting soul to stumble across butchery in progress.> A sedan pulls up beside the train car as the doctors come out of the train car. Dr. Eugene Openshaw (DO) exits the sedan.
Nameless Doctor (ND): [Shaking DO's hand] Dr. Openshaw, congratulations. Your work -- it's completed. You should see her.
DO enters the train car and takes the patient's hand.
ND: 25 years … she must seem like an old friend. <With friends like these…>
DO: Yes.
ND: We're, uh… going out to celebrate. If you'd like to come… <Any chance these folks are descendants of Nero going out for beers while the world's about to go to hell?>
DO: No. You go on ahead.
ND leaves. Outside, the other doctors waiting in a van watch in horror as a faceless Alien Rebel grabs ND and sets him on fire with a long metal object. The Alien Rebel then sets the occupants of the van on fire, then enters the train car. DO tries to back away, but is hit and also set on fire. The Alien Rebel looks down at the unconscious patient's unblemished abdomen then up at her face. It is Cassandra Spender. (CS)
Cue X-Files Music…
Well that's definitely a different way to toast someone's "success." Of course seeing as success would means the beginning of the end of the world I can't seem to muster much sympathy for the butchers -er I mean doctors.
Whatever happened to the Hippocratic oath? You know do no harm? Surely no one had to tell them that abducting someone and altering their DNA in order to make them into a slave race does not qualify as doing no harm.
How did the faceless alien find the train car anyway? Wouldn't a security minded person move the damn thing every time they performed a procedure? I have a theory. Me thinks someone as been feeding the rebels information. I'll expound on the theory later.
This is a short segment. Not much stuff going on in the teaser. I suppose I could include the "Previously on The X-Files" segments but it's not on the DVD and I'm so not going back to videotape.
