Season Two Gift Set

Six months after releasing the Season One Gift Set the second season was released.  Like Season One it is of course the buy for any focused Phile.

What's included

The Good

Once again I have no quality complaints as far as the episodes are concerned.  And I did love seeing the promos.  You get the ten-second promo as well as the 30-second one.  All very good.  And seeing the deleted scenes and other extras are great.  Definitely worth the money you'll spend on the DVD set.

The Blunder

There is one goof though.  In the FX "Behind the Truth Spots" the spot for Humbug is actually a spot about Gillian's hair.  You'll recognize it if you watched the spots on the first DVD set.

The Bad

Unfortunately, those things that I had issues with in the last DVD set are still part of the package.  First, that PC friendly is still part of the package.  PC Friendly is not Mac friendly.  It's also not friendly to anyone who doesn't run Internet Explorer.  As you can see from the screenshot there are still a million and one links to things you may or may not necessarily want to see while you're trying to play the game.

Speaking of the game once again they have a game with nothing in the way of instructions.  Really now this is ridiculous.  I've nearly finished the game but I'm stuck on this one puzzle.  (By the way if anyone can help me out in solving the puzzle pictured in the screenshot by all means please e-mail me I'd like to know.)  And yet again they have puzzle answers that can only be guessed by someone who's seen the show past the season the game comes with.  Grrr!  I'd like to think that these failings will be corrected in the subsequent seasons but I fear that Fox doesn't care.  And why would they?  It's not a deal breaker and there are still people who do not have DVD-ROMs on which to play the thing.

The Wrap-Up

All in all it's similar to the first season's package FX behind the scenes spots, a series episode listing, promos, the game, and the interviews.  Despite my complaints (which some people won't notice since they don't have DVD-ROM's it's still a good buy.

Addendum

I found this out while trying to obtain a still shot for "Anasazi."  For some strange reason (and it's just my computer) you cannot play the seventh disc (on which "Anasazi is located) on your computer's DVD player.  If you want to play the game it will work fine.  But if you want to play the episode it's a no-go.  Not cool!  It also means that if you want to watch the teasers you cannot.  I hope this isn't a trend.
