Squeeze

Look Colton! No aliens! "Maybe I run into so many people who are hostile just because they can't open their minds to the possibilities that sometimes the need to mess with their heads outweighs the millstone of humiliation."

This so explains so much of Mulder's punkish behavior.  You just can't take him anywhere.  For the chance to mess with someone's head he'd gladly embarrass himself and anyone around him.  Although frankly, I don't know who was the bigger punk in this episode, Mulder or Colton.

General Punkesque Behavior

Constantly pumping Scully to say why Colton didn't ask him for help on his case.  Mulder knew damn well why Colton didn't ask for his help.  Colton thinks Mulder's a flake.  Was it necessary to try to make Scully say it?

Ribbing Colton about "little gray men" at the crime scene.  That's not exactly the way to shake that "spooky" reputation.  That is assuming that Mulder cares about his reputation which it's pretty clear that he doesn't.

Declaring that Scully was wasting her time because he [the killer] wasn't coming back.  It's her time to waste.  Besides, just because he doesn't agree with something doesn't necessarily make it a waste of time.

Interrupting Scully:  Again.

How long has Mulder been investigating cases in the X-Files?  Why would he foolishly put his hand in some unidentified goo?  Very smooth G-man!

As will become a pattern in their relationship, Mulder barks orders at his partner to see what she could finagle.  As usual the word "please" never leaves his lips.

In a plot necessitated bout of amnesia, Mulder calls Scully's house over and over.  What?  Did he not remember her cell phone number?

Unprofessional Behavior

Acting territorial about the case:  "Our X-File dates back to 1903.  We had it first."  That's just childish.

Jeopardizing Scully's stake out.  Not only is this unprofessional but it's just plain dumb.

Adding seemingly outrageous questions to the list of question that the administrator was to ask without mentioning it to Scully.  Okay so telling Colton and his superior was out of the question.  But he could have told Scully.  She's his partner.
