Gee Mulder thanks so much for that helpful tidbit. I'm sure Scully feels so much better knowing she may be on a wild goose chase. This notwithstanding, he was despicably well behaved this episode.
Leaving Scully "holding the bag:" He obviously was the one to bring up the case and more than likely dragged Scully over to east bumblebleep to do an autopsy without filling her in on the X-Filean particulars of the case then he leaves her to deal with the hostile jerk of a sheriff without saying a peep to help the woman out. This should count as a ditch and certainly should qualify him to be on the receiving end of a dope slap.
