The first annual Shakin the Lake went rather well in my opinion. Considering there were no violent riots or fires (we'll excuse Matt Good's setting fire to the Shakin the Lake bear) it was a classic three day music festival.
I went w/ one of my WM partners Melissa and a new friend Andrea. We had a wonderful time, although we never got the "camping" thing down. lol
However since you are wondering about the Watchmen show...I'll get to that now.
It was a really hot day but as the night grew on it got a little breezy. Nothing too bad though. (and NOTHING compared to the coldness of the next day!) Anyways...Melissa, Andrea, Jessie (my great pal from Regina) and myself were all up front (like where else would we be?!) When they were getting ready Ken kept coming on stage to get his keyboard ready. It was cute because he had a sweatshirt w/ the hood up so you couldnt tell it was him. However...since he is 6'4" or something...its sort of easy to tell him apart from a normal roadie. lol
Now I was hoping it wouldn't be a very rough crowd...nevertheless going back to my statement from the NYE concert...Drunk people + concerts = ouch. lol and boy was it OUCH!
Anyways back to the concert...about 30 min into the set it just starts raining! It was that heavy thick rain too. I was so nervous that they would have to stop! But luckily it stopped after 5-10 minutes or so. =)
They played three new songs...all I've heard from the previous concerts...all still sound great!! The new album will definitely be diverse thats for sure!
Back to the ouch part...and to the drunk people that think its fun or something to crush others... I was hit VERY hard in the back of my leg causing my left knee to give out. Considering my right knee is very bad and was already hurting all day I really couldn't stand well. After holding myself up on the rail for one song I really couldn't take the pain so more painfully I had to get pulled out of the pit. I was really upset because I had really wanted to see the band again w/ my great WM pals but some silly drunk person had to ruin it for me. =(
After the show when my friends came and got me we got a ride w/ the first aid people and we drove past the backstage area where we got to talk to the band and a friendly hand helped me out. ;)
(For anyone wondering, my knees were better the next day) The rest of the festival went great...well except for the sun stroke on Sunday...that wasn't fun. Other than that...It was a fun time!
I don't remember the set-list. If anyone knows what it was let me know. Thanks.
Cheers Everyone!

What's a music festival with no fire?!
