My brother and I went to the
Warehouse early (around 2pm) in hopes of meeting the guys from The Watchmen and
Big Wreck before the show. Of course we had just missed them going in. So we
waited in the cold cold weather for many hours until they would let us in. Later
at night I saw that Ken had come outside to talk to some people who I believe had
won that Chart Magazine contest. I started calling and calling to him and finally
he started walking over...of course I was felt like I was in a dream world! I talked
to him for a few minutes and I was just ecstatic!
The Mayfield Four opened the show. I had no idea who they were...but I was very
impressed. They had a lot of people in the show going, especially for an opening band.
I have to admit...at the time of the concert I was not a Big Wreck fan...but once I heard
them play live...I was blown away! They were great! and now I'm a big fan! In their set
they had Joey and Danny come out and play a song with them. That was so awesome!
Then the wait that seemed to take forever ended and out came The Watchmen! I was almost
shaking I was so excited to see them play again! I was at the left hand side of the stage
where Ken stands and when he came out he looked down and smiled at me. =) They had a ton of
energy and the show was just great! They had some of the Big Wreck boys come out and play
some songs too. What I thought was great was that both bands all played this cover song
(I cant remember what it was though) then they got all messed up and just started playing
whatever and making stuff up.
During one song when Ken uses a drumstick on his bass he kept teasing me about not tossing me
a pick from the song before. Then at the end he reached down and gave me the drumstick!!! I
wanted to cry! but I didn't...I had to hold on to that thing like there was no tomorrow! (little
hint to those people at the concerts...if a band memeber is giving something to someone in
particular...let them!! Dont try to take it yourself!)
The concert ended soon and I was not dissapointed...I had the best time and was very excited to
see them again! I wanted to go to the show the next night...but being outside in the cold for as
many hours as we were...I got quite the flu. =(
