The
Elements
There
are 5 basic elements in magick.
Fire: Red
Earth: Green
Air: Yellow
Water: Blue
Akasha: White
The
Principle of Fire
The basic qualities we associate with the fire element are heat and expansion.
Every element has two "polarities," or two ways in which it may act. For
example, when the fire element is in its active or positive mode, it is constructive and
creative. When it is in its passive or negative mode it is destructive and dissecting.
There is a certain Magickal force which is very closely related to the fire element and
which is similar to electricity in many ways. For want of a better term, we will call it
the "electrical fluid," and note that it relates to the expansion of the fire
element.
The
Principle of Earth
The earth element is realted to air, fire, and water, and in fact involves all of the
other hree in solid form.
The properties of the earth element are heaviness, solidity, and closeness.
Since the earth element combines fire and water, as well as air, we may consider the fluid
in its vicinity as "electromagnetic."
The
Principle of Air
The air element is related to both fire and wter, and in fact is the "mediator"
or balance between the active and the passive activities of fire and water.
The air element has the dryness of fire and humidity of water.
The
Principle of Water
The basic qualities we associate with the water element are coldness and shrinkage.
When the water element is in its active or positive mode, it is life-giving, nourshing and
protective. In its passive or negative mode, it is dissecting, fermenting and dividing.
There is another Magickal force which is very closely related to the water element, and
similar in magnetism in many ways. For want of a better word, we will call it
"manetic fluid," and note that ir relates to the shrinking and contraction of
the water element.
The
Principle of Akasha
The akasha or "ether," often called the "life force," is teh basic
substance of hte universe, and all the other elements are derived from it. Akasha pervades
all things, yet it is also "the Cause" of all which exists. The etheric
principle bypasses time and space, and is to a great degree beyond our understanding,
though with proper training a Witch may use it to advantage in Macick.
Magickal
