Moe Loughran Biography
A BIT ABOUT MOE

Sometimes an artist comes along that can move your soul in ways none other has before...his or her music is a direct quote of the state of the human condition in both its feverish highs and most debilitating lows. He or she can craft a song lyrically and melodically that can only be described as having been touched by Devinity. Welcome to the world of Moe Loughran.

Marcie (pronounced Mar-SAY) "Moe" Loughran was born and raised in the Cincinnati Ohio area. She wrote her first song at the age of seven, and though she had always loved and participated in music throughout her childhood, it wasn't until she had already started college as a communications major at Heidelberg College in Ohio that she submitted to her true calling. "Until then I had thought I was going to be a talk show host," she jokes. After that she was headed to Berkley in Boston when she heard about Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. "I came to visit the place and really liked Belmont as well as the city. I called my mom right away and said, 'Mom, I'm not going to Berkley...THIS is my school!' I think she thought I was nuts to consider moving to Tennessee."

It turned out to be the right decion however...since moving to Nashville and graduating from Belmont Moe has maintained more than a busy career on the ever-growing rock side of Music City as well as across the nation. She is not merely headlining popular Nashville clubs like 12th & Porter Playroom and Exit/In, but has also landed showcases at Woodstock '99, the South By Southwest Festival 2001 in Austin, the Rockrgrrl Conference 2000 in Seattle, the NACA Convention in Dallas and was the founder of last summer's nation-wide Women of MP3 Tour. She has also opened for K's Choice, James Taylor, Hall & Oats and Chicago and has travelled to New York City several times to play the world famous Bitter End, the Living Room and the Wetlands. In her spare time she writes for Sony/ATV Tree and has earned cuts on albums for Muscle Shoals guitar great Wayne Perkins and Pamplin recording artist Jeni Varnadeaux. Her song "Free" was placed on the soundtrack to the independent film "Joyriders", you can hear her rich, golden vocals on a nation-wide radio spot for Folger's Coffee and the intro to her hit "Hey Michael" is the music you hear when you visit supermodel Vendela's official website (www.vendela.net).

However, it's what she writes and performs for herself where Moe truly excels. She can rock as hard as the boys or cry as sweetly as the girls with her latest power pop/rock offering entitled "The Tulip Tree". Drawing from past musical influences such as Pat Benatar, Heart, Journey and Billy Joel, it's no wonder the woman can sing with unparalelled power and grace. As far as the songs she writes, she nestles in nicely with today's most popular male-dominated rock and power pop bands such as the Foo Fighters, Eve6 and the Goo Goo Dolls, but she interjects a healthy dose of femininity into her lyric by fearlessly putting her heart and soul out there for the world to see. The result is nothing short of devine.

If you need or want a soul-moving musical experience, Moe Loughran is the artist for you. Let her in and discover the devinity for yourself.
