Background
Chun-li has been training in China since she was a mere child. Her motivation in life has been to get revenge. M. Bison murdered her father when she was extremely young. Throughout time, she has been committed to atone for her father's death. Chun-li is not a girl any more; she was born on March 1st of 1968, making her 30 years old now. For years, she has been tracking M. Bison, only to have him get away from her each time. However, Chun-li is not the type of person to give up, so she continues after M. Bison again and again, despite her struggles.

Strategy/Comments
- Chun-li is the second best character in the game. There is very little that can be done to stop her when she is used to her maximum potential.
- Chun-li rules the air. One of the things that makes this possible is her triple jump. It allows her to gain the extra height to beat her opponent out in an air fight. The second characteristic that allows her to control the air is her lightning legs attack. Despite their recovery time, this attack comes out quickly and has high priority allowing her to beat out her opponent. The third trait is her air dash; it allows her to get quickly from one side of the screen to the other in almost a split second. The fourth trait that make her the queen of the air is her air demon. Chun-li can jump up quickly into the air and perform her demon and catch an opponent trying to air dash from one side of the screen to the other.
- Chun-li has outstanding prowess when jumping in on her opponent. Her Headstomp is among the best in the game; it is extremely effective and can be linked into combos once it connects. It can make life extremely difficult on those characters who lack a dominant air defender. Her air dash can allow Chun-li to jump in on even the best of fireballers. It gets her across the screen quickly and can allow her to get behind a fireballer, so that she can pull off a nasty combo. Chun-li also has access to an incredibly useful triple jump. She can Super jump, not once, not twice, but three times with it. Use it to screw it your opponent's timing. You can pretend to jump in blocking, and then when your opponent attempts an air defender, simply jump again over to the other side. If you really want to screw up their timing, mix up the air dashes and triple jumps. Few opponents will be able to handle your crossup attempts on a constant basis.
- Chun-li is great at defending against jump-ins. Her S.Roundhouse is one of the best defenders in the game. Simply follow it up with a air combo, her rising bird kick, or her rising bird kick super. Even in the worst of situations, the S.Roundhouse will trade hits with her opponent, allowing them both to regroup. Be aware that her rising bird kick and its super version can also be used as air defenders. Take heed, they are both risky attacks and you may end up taking a serious thrashing if they are blocked.
- Chun-li has an effective ground game. She has tremendous ground speed, top notch attack speed, and a variety of moves to aid her cause. Once Chun-li reaches her opponent, she can pull off combos in almost a blink of an eye. The only real problem she has is that her attacks don't do a good deal of damage. However, Chun-li can easily chain her supers and work her opponent up into an air combo. The most devastating situation is when she works her air combo into an air demon super, taking off a huge amount of your life meter. If an opponent is turtling, Chun-li has a few moves to take care of this situation. One is her axe kick. If an opponent is in a crouching block, Chun-li can pull off this move and break down his defense. Chun-li's neck breaker is also a useful move. It allows her to jump and knee stomp into the back of the other character's neck. This move is effective when used sparingly and can be chained into a super or air combo. Chun-li has two other ground moves of note. The first is her kikoken. Basically, it's her fireball. It is not very effective and should only be used for chipping damage. You will not win games with this move. The other is her mini-kikosho; it does neutralize fireballs, but you should not have to use it. If you are using Chun-li, you should either be attacking your opponent or forcing them to come to you. If you are new to the game and not yet acquainted with Chun-li, get into a habit of finishing off ground combos with Chun-li's Lightning Legs; the extra damage done will help you out at the end of the game. This will allow you the leeway to experiment with her various air and ground combos when the opportunity arises.
- One of the most important things involving the use of Chun-li is the use of her supers. There are basically two effective uses of the Kikosho super. The first is against committed jump-ins like Wolverine's Headstomp. The second is for chipping your opponent to death at the end of the game. The Kikosho is perhaps the most powerful chipping super in the game. When the final seconds of the game are approaching, you should know what to do. Use the Senretsu Kyaku to punish blocked supers and mistakes, such as Wolverine's Berserker Barrage X or Spiderman's Crawler Assault. It starts up extremely fast and should be used as her mistake punishing super. The Senretsu Kyaku should also be chained and used with her ground combos. Make sure you link it properly, because if it is blocked, you be left vulnerable. Be sure to press the kick buttons quickly, in order for you to get the full amount of hits. This will give you the necessary chipping damage to finish off your opponent if they block the super. Also, if your opponent tries to push block the super, the last 5 kicks will break through and connect. The Hazan Senretsu Kyaku should be not be used often. The best use for it is to chain it quickly after her launcher. Be wary of using it against jump-ins unless you are sure it is going to connect. If it misses or is blocked, you are going to be is some serious trouble. Chun-li's air demon should be used in two situations. The first is in conjunction with her air combo; just be quick about activating it after the first two hits. The second is when the opponent attempts an air dash across the screen; simply jump up and meet them with this potent super. Also, keep in mind that this attack does no chipping damage.
- Chun-li takes some getting used to as a character. Her vast abundance of dominant traits makes her one of the juggernauts in this game. Even though a skilled keepawayer can hinder her attacks, Chun-li is blessed with a vast arsenal of moves and capabilities to break through just about any defense. As I have stated, if you are going to play with Chun-li, you'd better be able to force your opponent to come to you or you had better be able to get at them. Remember, she also does little damage with her basic kicks and punches, so quantity will be essential to winning. Also, consider the fact that she takes damage poorly; Chun-li can not trade hits with powerful characters, so use her speed to attack quickly and efficiently. Otherwise, you will be in a world of hurt. Furthermore, Chun-li has a great deal of traits to fight with; when used correctly, she is one of the top 2 characters in the game.
