Background
Bruce Banner was once a normal man. One day he was exposed to a gamma bomb detonation that turned him into the Incredible Hulk. Everytime Bruce gets into a fit of rage or anger, he transforms into that being inside him called the Incredible Hulk. Hulk is by far the Strongest human in the Marvel Universe. He could easily take Juggernaut, even though there are some that think otherwise. Hulk is so powerful that he broke through Onslaught's shield of defense, enabling everyone to mount their attack. He has also punched through Nate Grey's (X-Man) telekinetic shield, which is no easy feat. The madder Hulk gets, the stronger he gets that is the way he operates. Powerwise he is impressive but as Bruce Banner he has difficulty coming to terms with who he actually is.

- Hulk is a mistake punisher. Unfortunately against better opponents few mistakes are made and Hulk loses.
- Hulk is the strongest character in the game. He possesses high powered attacks and takes hits very well. In fact hulk has super armor and can shake off basic jabs and shorts. Only a heavy attack can cancel the super armor, or a medium or heavey attack chained in on the second or third hit.
- Hulk is the biggest character in the game. He will not sneak up on any opponent. He relies on long limbs to reach his opponent from a distance. Beware that their is an insane amount of lag time on the majority of his moves. If your opponent blocks a S.fierce or J.Roundhouse. They are going to have a considerable amount of time to counter.
- Defending with Hulk is not very complex. He can reach opponents trying to dash in with his S.Fierce from about one-third of the screen away. Fireballers can be punished trough the use of his Gamma Charge.
- Hulk's J.Roundhouse has High priority. It has both high power and great range. Use it to jump in on opponents as it will defeat most launchers. If you see your opponent start up a beam super use the J.Roundhouse even if the beam is already coming out you will knock down your opponent and stop their super, most often without taking any damage.
- Hulk's Gamma Quake is his most effective chipping super. Use it in close battles as it is safe to use, due to minimal startup and recovery time.
- Hulk's Gamma Charge must be setup. If it is blocked your opponent will have a good amount of time to attack you.
- If you are on the other side of the screen, Hulk's Gamma Crush can be used if you see a Shinkuu Hadoken or similiar super coming at you. Hulk will fly up and away smashing his opponent as their super hits nothing but air.
- Hulk really doesn't take any skill to play. His high powered attacks make him scrub friendly. With Wolverine you can mash a bunch of buttons and do a considerable amount of attack damage, with Hulk you only need to mash one or two.
- Hulk can simply turtle and punish mistakes with his standing fierce. Be patient with and attack this big target when he exposes himself.
- Make sure you begin all attack against Hulk with a fierce or Roundhouse attack. If you don't you will end up hitting him with maybe a jab and short while he nails you with a fierce doing far more damage. Also keep in ming that sometimes he just shrugs off Fierces and Roundhouses, in other words launchers don't always work. Keep this in mind, especially with Venom. You will have to use J.Roundhouse and then hit S.Strong to launch Hulk with Venom.
- A smart player will take advantage of Hulk's size. Treat him as one big bullseye and fire away. The quicker you land your heavy attack and then start up your ground or air combo the better off you will be.
- There really isn't much strategy involved with playing Hulk. You aren't going to pull extremely long combos with him either. Skill is not at all an essential part of playing with Hulk, just some heavy attacks and a couple of primitive combos.
