Morrigan
To sum it up: Aesthetically pleasing and fun to play.
Background:
Morrigan is a succubus. She was born in 1678 in Scottland. A Succubus is a demon that wishes to seduce men in order to enable herself to reproduce. With this in mind, these demons disguise themselves as beautiful women in order to succeed. That should explain why Morrigan is extremely attractive. She is a member of the Aensland clan and was slated to be the ruler of Makai (The Darkrealm) after Berial's death. Morrigan is also one of the Darkstalkers. The origin of this name can be attributed by the change brought on by a battle between the Aensland and Maximoff Clans. Demitri Maximoff, the heir of the Maximoff Clan, comes out of a century long sleep. He decides to do to war with the Aensland Clan. This battle alters the lives of the people in both worlds and as a result these people were then known as the Darkstalkers.

Strategy/Comments
- Morrigan is one the more balanced characters in the game. She can play an effective hybrid version keepaway game. With her speed, powerful projectiles and potent supers she can be force in the game. Her main setbacks are that she takes damage poorly, lacks attack range and her attacks don't do a good deal of damage. She can also loose her balance making her vulnerable to supers.
- Morrigan can be one of the best in the game at keeping her opponent away from her. By jumping up and throwing air soul fists she can easily keep them away. I'd suggest sticking to the Jab version because they come out the fastest. Remember that the Soul Fist propels her slightly upward, allowing you to throw quite a few before you approach the ground. Keep in mind that the projectile can not be crouch blocked. It will connect unless they block high. Also keep in mind that the air soul fist flies 45 degrees downward giving it good range. Remember if your opponent gets by the Soul Fists Air Dash immediately to the other side of the screen. This can be done by pressing forward twice. Get Morrigan to the other side of the screen regroup and then begin whatever attack strategy you wish. If you are on the ground you can also throw a Soul Fist out at your opponent. The jab version will be best against the faster character, although the Fierce version doesn't take a whole lot of time to come out either. Morrigan doesn't have any regular attacks with good range to tag a dashing opponent with, I'm sorry but those punches and kicks don't reach very far. If you see them coming take advantage of her speed, jump out of the way or you can always try to block their ground attack and counter. Be sure to push block them back and launch a quick counter. You may want to pull out a variable counter if you get pinned. In all honesty this shouldn't happen, you have the speed, get out of the way.
- Morrigan isn't all that bad at defending against air attacks. Her shadow blade is an excellent air defender. I'd just be certain that it connects, because if it misses she will be left vulnerable hung up in tha air for a while. So don't pull it off till you see a J.Roundhouse or something incoming. If they jump in blocking you could be in a bit of trouble, if they land and you are up in the air. You can also try using Morrigan's launcher to defend against air attacks. It works alright most of the time. Be sure to remember that timing is going to be essential here, you had better be able to pull it off just at the right second. If it connects and you see your opponent fly upwards, get to work of your air combo. You can try to fight your opponent in the air with her J.Roundhouse, but this should not be a habitual practice. As their are characters with higher priority and greater range that will be her out in the long run.
- Morrigan is unable to play a pure dashing game. Discretion and prudence are highly advised here. I say this for a couple reasons. One is as mentioned before her attacks(kicks and punches ) lack range. In other words you are going to have to get pretty close to your opponent to work them up into an air combo. The second reason is the danger of Morrigan losing her balance. For some reason Morrigan can't always keep her equilibrium. I wonder why? If she tries to pull off an attack and isn't close enough her arms will come out and she will try to balance herself. Be warned that during this time period she is vulnerable to super's and a myriad of other painfull attacks. Don't let this happen. The third reason is that her hits don't do all thast much damage. You don't want to be trading hits, especially against larger, stronger characters. You have to use her speed to get close, your not going to purely brawl your way to victory. Jumping in with Morrigan is king of tricky. If your fighting larger characters you'd better use her J.Roundhouse. Take note that this attack comes out horizontally and doesn't go downward. You can also try air dashing down at your opponent in an attempt to take them by suprise. I'd suggest going with the J.Jab, J.Short, attack sequence to oppen your attack. Sometimes you may want to do this after you've thrown a couple of fireballs downward and your opponent is expecting another. Morrigan's Shell Pierce can be a good surprise attack as it comes out with minimal haste. A word to the wise, a smart opponent will she it overhead and block. If the attack is blocked the better opponent will have the time to pull off a quick attack or maybe a super, depending on who they are using. When blocked Morrigan bounces off the character and is vulnerable for a period of time. So use your best judgement when pulling this move off.
- Each of Morrigan's supers have their uses. The Silhoulette Blade is comboable and does a little chipping damage. The main advantage is that this super is simple to combo. The main setback is that it doesn't do much damage, even if it connects. The Darkness Illusion comes out quickly, does considerable damage and does no chipping damage. This move is best used as a mistake punisher. Speculation has arisen that this move can be integrated into air combos. I can't say either way at this point. The Soul Eraser is a high powered, non-comboable, chipping beam super. She can be left vulnerable if this thing is blocked. Also don't throw it out at random, as your opponent may jump over it while the Batgun is forming, or pull off a super, ex(Maximum Spider).
- Morrigan has an air dash: press foward twice while in the air and she will pull out her jet pack and move to the other side of the screen.
- Morrigan's air Soul Fist is an extremely effective form of keep away. Use it to impede the progress of those characters that must be in close to be effective.
- Don't bother using the Eternal Slumber against a skilled opponent, they will make you pay. Only attempt this move if you are blowing out an opponent and can afford to show off.
- Morrigan is really a fun character to use. She take some thinking but not an exorbinant amount. She's not a bad character for beginners to start out with, although she is still usable in the hands of the advanced player also. Just remember Morrigan does not take hits well. Make sure you know your opponent; try to determine how much time you play dashing and comboing and how much you want to spend playing keepaway. It will depend on what character you are fighting and how good your opponent is.
