The littlest and cutest Outer Senshi, she is a brave and fierce little girl. The senshi of silence, she is Sailor Saturn. Tomoe Hotaru first appears in the later half of the S series, as the long-awaited Silent Messiah. Hotaru is the daughter of the evil enemy of the Sailor Senshi, Professor Tomoe. Professor Tomoe was the partner of the Witches Five and aided them in their quests for the Holy Grail. She doesn't appear right away as a Sailor Senshi. In her first appearance, ChibiUsa and Usagi go to her house, as ChibiUsa just became good friends with her. Throughout the whole series, ChibiUsa and Hotaru develop a long-lasting friendship. Hotaru appeared very weak, and frail. Hotaru doesn't at first become a good Senshi. At first she is posessed by Mistress Nine, a foe of the Senshi. Even if Saturn was a true good-hearted soul, Mistress Nine made her look evil, and and unmerciful. Then she was defeated. Then, Hotaru turned into an infant to protect her powers. Her powers were infinite. She had the power to destroy a planet. As soon as she was an infant, Haruka and Michiru assumed responsibility and guardianship over her, along with the aid of Setsuna. They take care of her throughout the whole series. The reason for the Outer Senshi becoming Super Outer Senshi is because of Hotaru. In a Stars episode, Hotaru was about to be attacked by one of Queen Neherenia's henchwomen, and as soon as she struck Hotaru, Hotaru blasted her away, and out of that appeared the three Outers: Uranus, Pluto, and Neptune. She gave them reinforced powers, and helped them defeat Neherenia's soldiers. Ironically, she was no longer an infant after that period, and became an older girl. That is why when you see Hotaru, she looks rather really young. In Stars, the ending, she dies because Sailor Neptune kills her, in order to get to Galaxia. But however, Hotaru is revived by Usagi. The Outers and Inners went their own seperate ways from that point, and Hotaru was forever in the care of the Outers.
