OASIS Charity Foundation Appeal
The Charity Foundation "Oasis" was created for the purpose of developing alternative forms of social and psychological support and rehabilitation for young people addicted to drugs and/or alcohol. The program is registered with the Administration of Justice of the Odessa Region, dated April 19, 2001, registration certificate # 226.
The program of rehabilitation was developed by a professional from the United States, R.F.Pucelik. It was created in America in 1983. In March, 1999 a similar program was started successfully in Moscow (Russia).
To assist the programs opening in Odessa, the Chairman of Odessa Regional Council, Sergey Grinevetskiy, has given the Oasis Foundation, buildings situated at the following address, Ak. Pankratova Str. 6, that is included in the "State List of Monuments of Odessa", according to the decision of Regional Executive Council on December 25, 1984.#652. The great opera singer Nezjdanova was born, lived, and studied in these buildings.
For continued successful operation of the rehabilitation center we are looking forward to cooperation with all organizations and individuals interested in the problems of drug and alcohol addiction in our nations young people. Our 'not for profit' program is at present being supported by many government and private organizations including, but not limited to, the Orthodox Priesthood, The Odessa Veteran Committee, numerous specialists of the Social Health Professionals Organization of the Ukraine, Cornell University (in New York), and University of California at Berkley.
We are proud to continue the fine tradition of public service and dedicated work to important social issues started by Nezjdanova. Her famous charitable activities will find its continuation within the walls where she was born and raised.
