Buffalo: 2n motion to pass PLI core voalues as written plib: Motion passes unanimously plib: Item 4: Vote for 1st SC to retain leadership postion for first six months, James you will have to make this motion Buffalo: Motion for 1st SC to retain leadership for next 6 months plib: 1FL 2nds by proxy plib: vote plib: Motion passes unamimously with one abstention (1st SC)for reason of conflict of interest. plib: Motion to end official meeting and goto chat by 1st SC Minutes 5/4/2000 Meeting we'll go ahead and call to order, meeting opened 8:05pm plib: we do not have a quorum, but as we will not be voting one is not necessary for discussion plib: they tend to show up later anyway. plib: no minutes to approve, the last meeting was unofficial plib: Staff Reports: EC plib: we have established an ongoing relationship with Viper and MXS sportz, they now understand who we are and where we come from. QM reports we are less in debt than we were at the last meeting, clerk has no report plib: No unfinished business plib: No old business plib: New Business, did everyone get or look at the agenda? plib: If not check the agenda page on plibmain AltPaintball(Tommy DeMarzo Detcom 1st. NY PLI (www.alternativepaintball.com)): checking Phantom68c(1st PA Det): PLI Member Tiers/awards ? plib: Yes, Item one, PLI Tiers. We have added this as a simple inexpensive system of "ranking" members. They are quite simple up to the third tier, then they get hard. This is to encourage members to work within the unit. Questions? plib: We have not ordered them yet, but they will be quite cheap. plib: I mean inexpensive, they will look good AltPaintball(Tommy DeMarzo Detcom 1st. NY PLI (www.alternativepaintball.com)): I like the idea, somthing for members to strive for Phantom68c(1st PA Det): Is it based on anything or did you just come up with the look yourself? plib: Exactly, it is based on NOTHING. Viper suggested a pyramid, but it would cost more. This way we can order the stripes and not have to spend a fortune on different size stripes (colors can change without cost on the design, but size changes are different patches) plib: It does kind of resemble service stripes, but the colors and sizes are different. It will be a pLI exclusive AltPaintball(Tommy DeMarzo Detcom 1st. NY PLI (www.alternativepaintball.com)): May I suggest a posting of member tier status on the web site once the tier system is enacted. Dan Hayes: that sounds good, I like the pyramid idea, how much more would it cost though plib: Oh, for the record, the QM is here with me. We will post the tiers on the site once the system goes into effect plib: the pyramid would cost too much more, basically be five small patches, and no special ones. With the stripes we can add award stripes, special stripes, or whatever as time goes on relatively inexpensively Buffalo: I like this idea. Any idea when it will go into effect? plib: Well, it will go into effect by the next meeting, but will take a few weeks to get the patches in. We will sell these patches at cost since the member earned them (instead of making money on them) plib: I will probably get the initial page up tomorrow with the initial awarding of tiers to those who have already met the requirements Dan Hayes: be sure to post the requirements to AltPaintball(Tommy DeMarzo Detcom 1st. NY PLI (www.alternativepaintball.com)): How many registered members do we currently have overall? plib: They are already up on the main page under PLI Member tiers. also make suggestions for special tiers now or email them in the next week or so. plib: Have to check with the clerk, gotta be about 60, paid and registered, we have some that have paid and not registered and registered but not paid. AltPaintball(Tommy DeMarzo Detcom 1st. NY PLI (www.alternativepaintball.com)): nice start Buffalo: Mine is on the money and reg has been sent and should be there any day plib: About 120 contacts that plan to join. And have three teams in FL joining too Buffalo: Ok I cant type Dan Hayes: i know I still need to pay plib: Item 2. Terminology Changes rstrahan: Sorry I'm late... plib: Just call the home page the DMZ, no seriously, talking to all the scenario operators gave me a new perspective. While ouir intention is to one day host Milsim games, there is still much more to the pLI than just Milsim. Thus the changes. Your comments please gentlemen... plib: Good or bad comments are fine by the way, I do not expect you all to agree with me all the time. Phantom68c(1st PA Det): How much are we looking at changing? Buffalo: I do not understand the reason behind the name DMZ? Tell us about it Dan Hayes: I dont se any problem with calling it DMZ b/c its still militray but demilitarized AltPaintball(Tommy DeMarzo Detcom 1st. NY PLI (www.alternativepaintball.com)): I like it plib: Well, not a lot. If you read carefully you saw the milsim stuff was for PLI events, problem was no one but us read carefully. No real changes have been made, just clarification. Trying to idiot proof the stuff if you get my drift. DMZ was a joke...the de-militarized zone, soory, bad joke. AltPaintball(Tommy DeMarzo Detcom 1st. NY PLI (www.alternativepaintball.com)): I still like it! lol Dan Hayes: ditto Buffalo: Ok I see plib: For example, we pulled the command matrix from the by laws, it clearly said it was for PLI hosted events only, but NO one but us could understand that the PLI did not award military ranks to its members, the only ranks are EC, BCC, DC, and member. This is still the same, just Idiot proof AltPaintball(Tommy DeMarzo Detcom 1st. NY PLI (www.alternativepaintball.com)): The removal of the Army FM from the web page was a good idea to change image plib: We still have and intend to use the matrix, but we will save it for when we need to use it instead of trying to explain it again and agains. The FM's are still there, but we moved them down to deemphasize them, dropped the FM ## and in short KISS Phantom68c(1st PA Det): Yes, the entire web page is looking good. plib: too many people are not seeing past the "Milsim" aspect of the game, I don't agree exactly, but we have to move forward. If we dig in our heals we will lose. plib: The tactics and stuff still work. Doesn't matter if you call it a platoon, group, gaggle, or whatever. Everyone okay with this? Buffalo: I am ok with it Dan Hayes: fine here plib: I want to be sure you understand we are a "kinder and friendlier" site, but at the core we have changed absolutley nothing. It is all scemantics plib: Item 3. By Law Changes AltPaintball(Tommy DeMarzo Detcom 1st. NY PLI (www.alternativepaintball.com)): Whatever it needs to help us survive and grow plib: Basically we already discussed the change to field leadership (pulling the matrix) there were a few other tweeks, but that was the big one. Any questions? plib: Be sure to review the by laws over the next few weeks. We will vote to ratify them in the first July meeting, so we need to make sure we have them the way we want them plib: again, we had to idiot proof them. You would not believe the stupid questions we get at PLI hq. 24 meg of text and pics, and some moron always manages to find one sentence that they want to play lawyer with. Ay caramba! plib: Item 4. Change in membership fees. We have discussed among the staff changing the fee to join to $5 per person, and include the PLI patch in the membership fee. Comments pro/con: AltPaintball(Tommy DeMarzo Detcom 1st. NY PLI (www.alternativepaintball.com)): more than fair plib: I want input from those of you who have already registered, since you already "paid" the extra $2 each. Buffalo: I like that Idea as long as that is enough to cover the cost plib privately to Buffalo: private: we only pay 1.66 per patch plib: It easily covers the cost. plib: Any negative ideas or concerns Phantom68c(1st PA Det): I can handle that, but we are going to need to be even more convincing now. I know its only 5 bucks but for some of the younger people I talk to that is a lot. I can see how getting a patch is enticing. Buffalo: Do we plan to attend an event any time soon plib: Yes, it has trhe bonus of getting something for the money, not just sending money plib: Okay, we'll work up the new member info stuff Phantom68c(1st PA Det): Just make sure you present the fact that you get a patch with the $5. This way it seems more like you are getting something plib: Item 5. Upcoming Events Dan Hayes: Im going to Dragon's Tail on may 20-21 would it be difficult to make this a plib event plib: We need to get some events on the schedule, event if you are just getting one or two members, we have to "wave the flag" to get interests up. Discussion... plib: Dan, say the word and it is a PLI event. Dan Hayes: its an event. Now what plib privately to Dan Hayes: private: Email me the particulars, also is you want the event pack you can either order it thru the homepage, or let me know you want it (the kit is awesome) AltPaintball(Tommy DeMarzo Detcom 1st. NY PLI (www.alternativepaintball.com)): PA det - Lets "do lunch" and combine our forces at an event.. Any scheduled in the near future in our area? Buffalo: Where is it Dan Hayes: sounds good plib privately to Dan Hayes: private: Get the event pack, I have added some packets of the new consolidated membership forms plib: The event pack now includes two pads of tear off consolidated membership forms plib: so you can sign them up while the iron is hot Dan Hayes: laport ,IN its an MXS game 3 of the 2000 prophocies event plib: Buffalo, any suggestions on the event kit? Phantom68c(1st PA Det): I would love to. But I am over in Pittsburgh. Would you want to do something in western or central PA or south NY? Dan Hayes: preregister ends tommarow however Buffalo: It is too soon for me. In another month or so I can affors to travel Phantom68c(1st PA Det): I am going to see about the Spyder Cup Phantom68c(1st PA Det): I just got back from PSU so I can look into it now. They are having a Mega Game on the Sunday after the cup Phantom68c(1st PA Det): I might be able to get a team there....I still have to contact my potential players AltPaintball(Tommy DeMarzo Detcom 1st. NY PLI (www.alternativepaintball.com)): Anyone available for the Big Game 2000 at Paintball Long Island May 20th? AltPaintball(Tommy DeMarzo Detcom 1st. NY PLI (www.alternativepaintball.com)): where is that mega game? PA? AltPaintball(Tommy DeMarzo Detcom 1st. NY PLI (www.alternativepaintball.com)): (May 21st, sorry) <--- Paintball Long Iland big game Phantom68c(1st PA Det): Alt, we could definately do something next year, our Paintball Club likes to take weekend trips. If we could coordinate a trip with a big PLI game we could have some fun Phantom68c(1st PA Det): Thats at Three Rivers Paintball in Cranberry PA. Its about an hour out of Pittsburgh, (where the Zap Ameture is) plib: To sponsor a PLI Protocol Event, all you have to do is agree to abide by the basic protocols, and act as a PLI team. It is VERY simple. Just go as PLI. And get the kit, it includes the PLI 3*5 flag, 3*6 banner, bound copy of FM1-1, pamphlets, flyers, etc. We need to get stuff on the schedule so we can ccordinate easier. Check you area and come up with one big game or scenario you want to attned as PLI and lets put it on the schedule, I have not doen a schedule page because we have not had enough events schedule. Email the specifics to PLI HQ and we will get the schedule up so we can support each other. Phantom68c(1st PA Det): Should we talk to the field beforehand? Dan Hayes: how much is the kit plib: Try to email me one event over the next six months, you may want to talk to the field owner beforehand or PLI HQ will do it for you. It is not required, though you do need to know who is PLI at your event. Buffalo: ANyone going to DDay at Bunker Extreme in Oklahoma? plib: That is email me this weekend with one event that will occur over the next six months. plib: The Kit is $25 now, $15 shipping, and the resto cover the cost of the business cards, flyers, and posters. It contains about $700 worth of toys plib: PLI HQ will work with you on the cost of the kit too. Dan Hayes: is it 25 with 15 s/h or is it 25 total plib: Item 6. Hats and T-shirts plib: we have been putting this off because of the cost, but it is time to look into t-shirts and hats for the unit. 25 total plib privately to Dan Hayes: private: $25 total, but get with me if it is a problem Dan Hayes privately to plib: private: there shouldnt be plib: I am lookinf for a few commitments to buy shirts and hats AT COST to resell to members. any suggestions/ comments Dan Hayes privately to plib: private: ill buy one Dan Hayes: ill buy one plib: I have the funding to front the cost, just want to make sure we have a market. AltPaintball(Tommy DeMarzo Detcom 1st. NY PLI (www.alternativepaintball.com)): Rusty, sorry I never got back to you about the ****s/etc from the family business.. Let me know what exactly you are looking for, how many and I will get a price. Buffalo: I would take one as well. What kind of hat would it be and how much are the **** and hat plib: One of the problems in not taking sponsors is having to do this ourselves, but it will pay off in the long run. Okay Tom, I'll get you an email tomorrow Buffalo: shirt and hat plib: As to the hat, I'm not sure yet, probably jusy a black baseball cap for off field wear with the logo and unit name on it. Shirt would be black with logo on front and back. I'd prefer a henly (3 buttonstyle) shirt, but it will depend on cost vegabond: ok Rusty I have to go sorry. plib: I will let you all know what the options are for this stuff. plib: cya, plib: Item 7. A nickname, we have been informally using "Paintball Warriors" as a unit nickname, but it really isn't fair since it is our team name, we want you to start thinking of nicknames you would like. We will vote on the nickname at the july meeting. plib: We don't mind using Paintball Warriors, just think it would be better for us to all have input. plib: Move to open Forum, any comments or suggestions you want to make on the record or move to adjourn and go to informal discussion? AltPaintball(Tommy DeMarzo Detcom 1st. NY PLI (www.alternativepaintball.com)): Whats wrong with PLI? I thought each detachment had a separate nickname.. or are we getting away from that? plib: No, we will still be PLI, just thought it would be good to have a nickname, personnalyy I like Paintball warriors, since it embodies what we are, but it would be unfair to force that on everyone, or we could vote NOT to use a nickname. Either is fine. Phantom68c(1st PA Det): I like Paintball Warriors Buffalo: Me too plib: We will always be the PLI...That flag cost a lot! AltPaintball(Tommy DeMarzo Detcom 1st. NY PLI (www.alternativepaintball.com)): lol plib: Just ask my wife Dan Hayes: I need to go. Ill e-mail you rusty plib: That thing cost me a new refrigerator AND washer dryer. Seriuosly, motion to adjourn? AltPaintball(Tommy DeMarzo Detcom 1st. NY PLI (www.alternativepaintball.com)): Alternative Paintball is still offering a 10% discount to PLI members Buffalo: Motion to adjourn plib: second? rstrahan: I second...gotta go, company is here. Buffalo: Take care all have a good night AltPaintball(Tommy DeMarzo Detcom 1st. NY PLI (www.alternativepaintball.com)): Thanks Rusty.. Talk to you all soon... plib: Motion carries, adjourned at 9:18 excellent meeting Minutes 2/10/00 Meeting: Call to order 1915 EST -Roll Call, Quorum Present -Minutes, problem getting them out. Motion made and seconded to move on. We will approve minutes of 1/27 and 2/10 at next meeting. -EC Reports possible APG article with pics in a few months. More info forthcoming. -QM reports patches still on order, two more weeks. -Clerk no report. -Old Business: None -Unfinished Business: None -New Business: Item 1. Patches: Will be in by end of February and are $5 each or can be ordered in bulk by the detachment for $4 each (must order at least 10). The first patch is the 1 and Splat patch as illustrated on the site which should be worn by all members. a second optional patch Paintball Warrior Battle Doctrine Patch is also available. Either may be ordered in bulk by detachments for $4 each (minimum of ten) or $5 individually. Detachments may order their own unit patch at www.policepatch.com (the link is on our page now). Item 2. PLIB Flag: We have two options: A. Order custom sewn 3*5 single flag for $200 with PLI seal and "1st Paintball Light Infantry" across the top. Detachments could order their own custom sewn flags with the detachment name under the seal for about $4 a letter. These are top of the line hand sewn flags, but expensive. B. Order 12 printed 3*5 flags for $80 each with "1st Paintball Light Infantry" across the top, PLI seal, and "Animis Opibusque Parati" under the seal. These are also high quality nylon, but are printed, not sewn. We decided to go with option A. Detachments may rent the flag for $5 plus shipping back and forth. You must reserve it in advance. We will give you the name of our supplier if you are interested in purchasing a flag. Item 3. Banners: We have ordered one 3'*6' banner. It is a three color banner with PLI logo, name, motto, web address, and "The Next Step in Paintball Evolution". It is designed to go on or above a table and is high quality. This banner will be available to detachments for events they sponsor for $5 rental fee plus shipping and handling. If you wish to order a banner they are $140.00 Complete. The Motto can be replaced with your detachment name for about the same cost. Order them thru the PLI Brigade Store. Item 4. Warpig Rec Board- I have discussed our unit at length with Rick"wolf" Martin, our most vocal critic on the board. He now understands better what we are about and while still remaining leery, stated he "felt better about the unit". Also see the new article "What is Milsim Paintball" which I used to convince him we were not the enemy under the PLI Articles Section of the Homepage. And ask any question you may have. There was an apparent misconception that we were too military. We have made peace. Item 5. Name: Refer to the unit as the PLI, not PLIB. This is because we have outgrown the battalion boundary and are now a "brigade". It also silences a little of the more vocal criticism and makes it easier for us to become a division one day, plus it is easier to remember. Item 6. FM 2-1, Paintball Infantryman's Handbook is nearing completion. This will be a pocket size manual to carry in the field with tactics and relevant sections of FM 1-1 in addition to operating plans for all present alternative paintball weapons (Buffalo- I need operating instructions for the sonic mine to include) including Tippmann Ordnance weapons systems. This manual will NOT be available as a download as it has more "mission critical" information that we do not wish to publisize. Will be $10. You can pre order copies now. It will be about 200 pages and every man should try to have one. This does not have any fluff like FM 1-1. No quotes, by laws, or stuff. Strictly operational info for our troops. Item 7. Registration Packages: A. Effective immediately, the need for a notary seal is null and void. Have an adult sign and print as a witness. Preferably a fellow player and submit your forms as soon as possible. B. Detachments need to submit their packages ASAP. Snail Mail them to PLIB HQ, 1317 East Glen Oak Road, North Lauderdale, FL 33068. C. Registration Fee Clarification: The initial fee for a five man team or individual is $10. The individual can then add four more members at no cost (we suggest they collect $2 from those four to repay them). Any members over the first five must pay $2 registration. Registration pays for newsletter postage and helps the unit cover some of the expenses incurred by the unit. D. Registration is not simple because you are joining the 1st nationwide mega team organized to support itself. We must legally protect ourselves (and you! Remember the EC position will rotate to your team one day!) By requiring more than an email, we ensure we are recruiting quality players willing to go the extra mile (movers and shakers), not computer players! Our team has put up over $500 to get this going so we are committed and feel no remorse over demanding excellence and a little work now and then. -Upcoming Events: 1. Wayne Dollack game sponsored by 1st NY Alternative Paintball. 2. Viper Scenario Game Texas Revolution VI sponsored by 1st Texas. 3. Top Gun Event sponsored by 1st Texas. -Open Forum: 1. Alternativepaintball.com to give PLI members 10% discount. 2. Newest Detachment is Tippmann Ordnance (1st Colorado). 3. Teams/Detachments should submit players wanted to APG's players for players. 4. Discussed Airsoft use, most were against due to extreme realism/not allowed on many fields. 5. Detachment patches were discussed and a link will be added to our supplier. He beat ALL other estimates by about 44 cent per patch. You will have to order about 50 patches. -Meeting Adjourned: 8:48 Minutes 1/27/2000 Meeting: -Call to Order- 1915 -Roll Call- None held -Minutes- None (last meeting was unofficial) -Staff Reports- EC- Membership is increasing and we have added numerous detachments. Detcoms should get their packages in ASAP or at least email their mailing address. QM- Patches are on order, flag and banner estimates coming in. Bank account is opened and we will be getting a PO Box next week. Clerk- No Report -Unfinished Business- None -Old Business- None -New Business- 1. We are taking some hits on warpig's rec board. If you choose to respond do so professionally and do not use foul language or insults. We are being defended by non members at this time. 2. PLIB HQ can assist you by supplying graphics, latin mottos, banners, business cards, tri-fold flyers. Email PLIB BRigade Store for rates and to reserve items. The rates are very low and intended to pay for the items eventually. 3. Texas Revolution VI sponsored by 1st Texas, check their site for more info. 4. 1st Texas also testing the Sonic Mine, new altpaintball device. Check their homepage for more info. 5. Motorola Talkabout 250 is official radio of PLI or its equivalent (should have 14 channels, 38 privacy codes). 6. FM 1-1 Available in hardcopy for $25+shipping. Each detachment should have one on hand to show off as they look GREAT. 7. Flag estimates will be in before the next meeting for orders. No additions -Adjournment proposed and seconded. Adjourned at 1943.
