Gatorade is one of the most popular and best things for you to be drinking before, during, and after workouts. See how it works.

Nutrition and good old Energy

Everyone realizes that Nutrition is important. What a lot of people don't realize is that there is a lot more to it than just eating right. A lot of players I know stop by the local Burger King to catch a bite for playing. That's a big No-No. In order to give your body the best chance to succeed you must have a better plan.

Pasta (minus the thick Tomato Sauce) is a great food for pre-game. Pasta is a main source for Carbohydrates, Carbs burn fat to make energy. Depending on your Metabolism, you may need some protein as well. For those of you that do, try a hard-boiled egg or two. Now, when I say "Pre-game" I mean at least 4 Hours before a match and even that's pushing it. The body needs at least an hour to digest food particles (Remember, "Stay out of the water for at least 45 minutes after dinner!").Even after that first hour particles gather in the intestines causing that heavy feeling. Don't drink a lot of water before, or during a game unless your body is used to that, or you will be visiting the restroom during timeouts. Instead, drink Gatorade, it is not a diuretic (a drink that increases urine production) and plain water will not replace the electrolytes (sodium and potassium) that the body loses through sweat, nor will it replace any energy. Gatorade replaces both. In short, stay away from "heavy", yet convienent foods before matches and drink lots of Gatorade. Most importantly, consult your physician before commiting to a dietary plan, your body may not be able to handle certain changes.
