"Romeo and Juliet" has always been one of Shakespeare's most popular plays. Since 1845, when Charlotte and Susan Cushman finally brought a version approaching Shakespeare's original back to the stage, it has been a coveted vehicle among actors and actresses alike. Some of theatre's greatest names have been associated with the play.
It seems natural then, that it is also one of the most studied plays in classrooms. With the recent modern movie adaptation, the play has become even more popular with students.
