PLOT
This is a very intense drama based on the life of film Director James Whale (played by Ian McKellan), the man who directed Frankenstein, Showboat and Bride of Frankenstein. Enter Clay Boone, his gardener who was hired while Whale had a stay in hospital. Clay and Whale proceed to strike up a very unusual friendship.

MY REVIEW
LOVE this movie, and yet it's the most difficult of his work to describe. It deals with very in-depth personal relationships. Whale is the antithesis of everything Clay has believed in, and yet they still connect on a very emotional level. To put it simply the best work Brendan has done in my opinion. Everything about the film is simply tremendous.

Fave Quote
"But the monster never receives any of my jibes. He's noble...noble and misunderstood."

Fave Scene
Used to be the climax of the film, but the more I watch it, the more I'm drawn to the scene where several people watch Bride of Frankenstein. Seeing the different takes everyone has on the movie is amazing.

Quotable Brendan

"He’s had a stroke and is in a surrealistic landscape in his mind- he keeps having visions of me as the creature. He lures me into his studio in an elaborate scheme to goad me towards killing him! But as we remember from Mary Shelley, the creature could not kill his creator... and is doomed to wander the earth."
