BIRD LIST OF BOLIVIA


You will have a fantastic birding tour in a delightful country incredibly rich in birdlife. Entirely landlocked in the heart of South America and boasting an impressive variety of habitats, Bolivia holds some 1350 species of birds. Many of these inhabit the valleys, slopes and altiplanos of the mighty Andean Cordillera, here reaching its greatest width. The diversity of birds is astonishing; there are Sandgrouselike seednipes, Skulking, Tapaculos, Wheatearlike Ground-Tyrants, a host of furnariids, a kaleidoscope of colorful Tanagers, the plaintive Red-winged Tinamou, the stately Red-legged Seriema, the handsome Golden-collared Macaw, the awkward Guira Cuckoo, the spritely White-rumped Monjita, the stunning Plush-crested Jay, Versicolored Barbet, Barred Fruiteater, Andean Cock-of-the-Rock, Amazonian Umbrellabird, Blue-backed manakin, Swallow-tailed Cotinga, Red-crested Cotinga, Blue-banded Toucanet, Black-necked Aracari, Chestnut-eared Aracari, Green-checked Parakeet, Black-winged Parrot, Chestnut-fronted Macaw, Bolivian Tyran-nulet, Two-banded Pale-legged and Citrine warblers, White-browed and Blue-backed conebills, Golden-collared Tanager and Hooded and Chestnut-bellied mountain-tanagers. Very distinctive set of birds including several Bolivian endemics such as: Wedge-tailed Hillstar, Cochabamba Mountain-Finch and Bolivian Blackbird, Red-fronted Macaw, Citron-headed Yellow-finch. Other specialties are Plain-breasted Earth-creeper, Scribble-tailed Canastero, Olive-crowned Crescent-chest, Brown-backed Mockingbird, Rufous-bellied Saltator, Gray-crested Finch, Barwinged Cinclodes, Rock Earthcreeper and a plethora of hummingbirds.
