FAITH (PART 1)

Taken from the HOLY BIBLE: NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION (C) 1978 by the New

York Bible Society, used by permission of Zondervan Bible Publishers.

MAT 7:24 "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them

into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

8:13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! It will be done just as you

believed it would." And his servant was healed at that very hour.

9:22 Jesus turned and saw her. "Take heart, daughter," he said, "your

faith has healed you." And the woman was healed from that moment.

29 Then he touched their eyes and said, "According to your faith will it

be done to you";

11:6 Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me."

29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in

heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

15:28 Then Jesus answered, "Woman, you have great faith! Your request is

granted." And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

MAR 9:23 "'If you can'?" said Jesus. "Everything is possible for him who

believes."

16:16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not

believe will be condemned.

LUK 7:9 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him, and turning to the

crowd following him, he said, "I tell you, I have not found such great

faith even in Israel."

50 Jesus said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."

8:50 Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, "Don't be afraid; just believe,

and she will be healed."

17:6 He replied, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can

say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it

will obey you.

18:42 Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has healed you."

JOH 1:12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name,

he gave the right to become children of God--

3:15 that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.

16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that

whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe

stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's

one and only Son.

36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the

Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him."

5:24 "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who

sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over

from death to life.

6:29 Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he

has sent."

35 Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will

never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.

7:38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living

water will flow from within him."

11:25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who

believes in me will live, even though he dies;

26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe

this?"

40 Then Jesus said, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would

see the glory of God?"

12:36 Put your trust in the light while you have it, so that you may

become sons of light." When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid

himself from them.

44 Then Jesus cried out, "When a man believes in me, he does not believe

in me only, but in the one who sent me.

46 I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in

me should stay in darkness.

14:1 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.

11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me;

or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.

12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have

been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going

to the Father.

20:27 Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach

out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe."

29 Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed;

blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

31 But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ,

the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

ACT 3:16 By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was

made strong. It is Jesus' name and the faith that comes through him that

has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see.

10:43 All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him

receives forgiveness of sins through his name."

15:9 He made no distinction between us and them, for he purified their

hearts by faith.

11 No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are

saved, just as they are."

16:31 They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved--you

and your household."

20:21 I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God

in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.

26:18 to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from

the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and

a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'

ROM 3:22 This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ

to all who believe. There is no difference,

27 Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. On what principle? On that of

observing the law? No, but on that of faith.

28 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing

the law.

10:4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for

everyone who believes.

9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in

your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

GAL 2:16 know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by

faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that

we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law,

because by observing the law no one will be justified.

3:6 Consider Abraham: "He believed God, and it was credited to him as

righteousness."

7 Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham.

8 The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and

announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed

through you."

11 Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, "The

righteous will live by faith."

14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come

to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the

promise of the Spirit.

22 But the Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin,

so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might

be given to those who believe.

23 Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up

until faith should be revealed.

24 So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be

justified by faith.

25 Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the

law.

26 You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus,

27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves

with Christ.

5:6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any

value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.

EPH 1:12 in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be

for the praise of his glory.

13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth,

the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with

a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,

3:12 In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and

confidence.

4:13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son

of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of

Christ.

PHI 3:9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that

comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ--the

righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.

COL 2:7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were

taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

1TI 1:16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the

worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an

example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.

2TI 1:13 What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching,

with faith and love in Christ Jesus.

3:15 and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are

able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

HEB 10:22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance

of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty

conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.

12:2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith,

who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and

sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

1PE 1:8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do

not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible

and glorious joy,

2:7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do

not believe, "The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone,"

1JO 3:23 And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus

Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.

5:4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that

has overcome the world, even our faith.

5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is

the Son of God.

13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God

so that you may know that you have eternal life.

14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask

anything according to his will, he hears us.

REV 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my

voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.

FAITH (PART 2)

Taken from the HOLY BIBLE: NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION (C) 1978 by the New

York Bible Society, used by permission of Zondervan Bible Publishers.

2SA 22:31 "As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is

flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.

PSA 5:11 But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing

for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name

may rejoice in you.

9:10 Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never

forsaken those who seek you.

18:30 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He

is a shield for all who take refuge in him.

32:10 Many are the woes of the wicked, but the LORD'S unfailing love

surrounds the man who trusts in him.

34:8 Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes

refuge in him.

22 The LORD redeems his servants; no one will be condemned who takes

refuge in him.

36:7 How priceless is your unfailing love! Both high and low among men

find refuge in the shadow of your wings.

40:4 Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not look to

the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.

64:10 Let the righteous rejoice in the LORD and take refuge in him; let

all the upright in heart praise him!

84:12 O LORD Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you.

112:7 He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting

in the LORD.

118:8 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man.

9 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes.

125:1 Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be

shaken but endures forever.

147:11 the LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his

unfailing love.

PRO 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own

understanding;

14:26 He who fears the LORD has a secure fortress, and for his children it

will be a refuge.

22:19 So that your trust may be in the LORD, I teach you today, even you.

28:25 A greedy man stirs up dissension, but he who trusts in the LORD will

prosper.

29:25 Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD

is kept safe.

30:5 "Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take

refuge in him.

ISA 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast,

because he trusts in you.

30:15 This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: "In

repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your

strength, but you would have none of it.

57:13 When you cry out for help, let your collection of idols save you!

The wind will carry all of them off, a mere breath will blow them away. But

the man who makes me his refuge will inherit the land and possess my holy

mountain."

JER 17:7 "But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence

is in him.

8 He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by

the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green.

It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."

39:18 I will save you; you will not fall by the sword but will escape with

your life, because you trust in me, declares the LORD.'"

NAH 1:7 The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those

who trust in him,

MAT 21:21 Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do

not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you

can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be

done.

22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."

MAR 9:23 "'If you can'?" said Jesus. "Everything is possible for him who

believes."

24 Immediately the boy's father exclaimed, "I do believe; help me overcome

my unbelief!"

11:23 "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw

yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that

what he says will happen, it will be done for him.

24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you

have received it, and it will be yours.

LUK 7:50 Jesus said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."

8:48 Then he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in

peace."

50 Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, "Don't be afraid; just believe, and

she will be healed."

17:5 The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!"

18:8 I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However,

when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?"

ACT 3:16 By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was

made strong. It is Jesus' name and the faith that comes through him that

has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see.

13:48 When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of

the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.

26:18 to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from

the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and

a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'

ROM 1:16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God

for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the

Gentile.

17 For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness

that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous

will live by faith."

4:3 What does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was

credited to him as righteousness."

5 However, to the man who does not work but trusts God who justifies the

wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness.

11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness

that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. So then, he is the

father of all who believe but have not been circumcised, in order that

righteousness might be credited to them.

13 It was not through law that Abraham and his offspring received the

promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness

that comes by faith.

14 For if those who live by law are heirs, faith has no value and the

promise is worthless,

20 Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but

was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God,

21 being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.

22 This is why "it was credited to him as righteousness."

23 The words "it was credited to him" were written not for him alone,

24 but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness--for us who

believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.

5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace

with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

10:9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in

your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is

with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

11:20 Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand

by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid.

23 And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for

God is able to graft them in again.

15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in

him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

1CO 1:21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did

not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached

to save those who believe.

2:5 so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power.

12:8 To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to

another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,

9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that

one Spirit,

2CO 1:24 Not that we lord it over your faith, but we work with you for

your joy, because it is by faith you stand firm.

GAL 3:2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the

Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard?

3 Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying

to attain your goal by human effort?

6 Consider Abraham: "He believed God, and it was credited to him as

righteousness."

7 Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham.

8 The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and

announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed

through you."

9 So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of

faith.

10 All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written:

"Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the

Book of the Law."

11 Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, "The

righteous will live by faith."

12 The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, "The man who does these

things will live by them."

14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come

to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the

promise of the Spirit.

5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,

goodness, faithfulness,

EPH 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this

not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--

6:16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you

can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

COL 1:23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved

from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and

that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I,

Paul, have become a servant.

1TH 2:13 And we also thank God continually because, when you received the

word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of

men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who

believe.

5:8 But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on

faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.

2TH 2:13 But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the

Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the

sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.

1TI 1:5 The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart

and a good conscience and a sincere faith.

19 holding on to faith and a good conscience. Some have rejected these and

so have shipwrecked their faith.

6:11 But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness,

godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.

12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to

which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of

many witnesses.

2TI 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have

kept the faith.

HEB 4:2 For we also have had the gospel preached to us, just as they did;

but the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard

did not combine it with faith.

3 Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said, "So I

declared on oath in my anger, 'They shall never enter my rest.'" And yet

his work has been finished since the creation of the world.

10:35 So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.

38 But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will

not be pleased with him."

39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those

who believe and are saved.

11:1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do

not see.

2 This is what the ancients were commended for.

3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so

that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who

comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who

earnestly seek him.

JAM 1:6 But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who

doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

2:1 My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, don't

show favoritism.

5 Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the

eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he

promised those who love him?

14 What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no

deeds? Can such faith save him?

15 Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food.

16 If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well

fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?

17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action,

is dead.

18 But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds." Show me your

faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.

19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that--

and shudder.

20 You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is

useless?

21 Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when

he offered his son Isaac on the altar?

22 You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his

faith was made complete by what he did.

23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and

it was credited to him as righteousness," and he was called God's friend.

24 You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith

alone.

25 In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous

for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a

different direction?

26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

1PE 1:9 for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of

your souls.

21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and

glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.

1JO 3:21 Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence

before God

5:4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that

has overcome the world, even our faith.
