A little about myself

Hi and thank you for stopping to enjoy my page.......
I am a mother of two and have been stitching for 25 years.  My mother started me out with embroidery, my first projects were dish towels and pillow cases.  At the age of 15 I advanced to needlepoint then at the age of 20 I advanced again to crewel.  At that point my younger sister Paula taught me how to do Counted Cross Stitch and in turn I was to teach her the fine art of crewel stitching as of date I have not fulfilled my promise.
My First Cross Stitch piece was a baby sampler for my sister Paula for her first born Zachary.  From there I have done many Samplers, Christmas Ornaments, Wedding Samplers, Ring Bearer Pillows, Bookmarks and much more...  Most of the pieces that I have done, I have given away as gifts.  I feel the biggest joy in the pieces that I have done are the expressions on Friends and Families faces when they receive a special heirloom from me.
My Favorite pieces to do are the Christmas stockings.  I have made each of my children two Christmas stockings and I have also made 3 others for a very good friend of mine, his three children.  Some of these are featured on the Christmas page.....
I have also learned through my years of Cross Stitching that it is a very good way for children that are hyperactive or with ADD/ADH (Attention Deficit Disability). My son Nathon was diagnosed with ADD at the age of 7.  I got him interested in Cross Stitch and that has helped him concentrate on what he is doing for longer periods of time.  And he is still stitching to this day and enjoying this it very much...
Rennae has showed some interest in Cross Stitching but, does not have the patience like Nathon and I.  But there is still hope.....
I have found that my good friends kids who are 6, 7, and 8 also enjoy stitching on plastic canvas and embroidery very much.  They do not sit at it for long periods of time but they do want to do it all the time.   This year we will be having them create their own Christmas gifts for their cousins...
I have even got my male friend Cary who is also featured on this web page interested in Cross Stitch.  He is a Quality Assurance Specialist for a software company and to take the stress out from his job I started him with Cross Stitch and his very first project was a Santa Claus afghan.  I have not yet done an afghan to this day,  so I am very jealous of his abilities.  He has also done a few other creations that are included in the web page.
I have found through the years that it is getting more difficult for me to put my work down.  I can stitch for hours on end and not feel one bit guilty that the dishes are not done and the floor is not swept.  I have even gone to the extreme on taking my stitching on trips, the doctor's office, hospitals and yes even to work.... I have to admit that I have also got other people interested in Cross Stitching that have said that they have tried it in the past and didn't like it, but are willing to give it a second chance.
Credit also has to go to my mother who is no longer with us for her talents in stitching, sewing, quilting and artistic ability in drawing.  I feel if it wasn't for her I would not be as interested in the Creations that I do and have done...... It was her patience that allowed me to keep improving my skills and handing them down to my children.  Credit also goes to my sister Paula for taking the time in teaching me the art of Counted Cross Stitch and also finishing some of the pieces to completion especially the Christmas Stockings that I have done.  She is a great seamstress which she also got from our mother.....
There is my story, I hope that your Cross Stitching Days are as memorable and fulfilling as mine have been and will be...........I feel that I will be doing this when I am in a rocking chair and teaching my grandchildren what my mother has taught me....

If you have an interesting story, favorite piece, tip or just to say hi please email me....
