Recipe Ingredients
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup flour
3/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts





Recipe Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees for shiny metal pan or 325 degrees for dark metal pan. Melt
shortening in an 8-inch square or 9-inch square baking pan over low heat on top of range.
Remove from heat and stir in brown sugar. Blend well. Add unbeaten eggs one at a time and mix well with a fork. Add vanilla and mix well.
Sift flour, baking powder and salt together and add to pan. Mix until no more flour shows. Stir in nuts. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Cut into squares while still warm.
