Serial Joe played at Edgefest '99 (the whole tour).
Serial Joe was the youngest band ever to play Woodstock which they did in the summer of '99.
Serial Joe is signed to Aquarius Records in Canada. Bif Naked is also on this label. (The official Aquarius page is on my links page...and I'm on there links page along with a few other ppl like my friend Amy V.)
SJ has recently signed with Epic Records in the states. This is major cuz there are a lot of big names on this label...KoRn, Rage Against the Machine... and good news for the American fans: SJ'll be doing a tour in the States in the new year...I'll keep you posted on more info.
The name "Serial Joe" came from the fact that the guys knew a little girl who lived on Ryan's street and she couldn't pronouce the name of a guy named "Sergio" and she called him Serial Joe. The guys liked the name and kept it.
Their first Independant EP "KICKeD" has 6 songs (check the lyrics page). Originally they only made 3000 copies but now they are in such high demand they they are making more and should be avaiable through HVM or Sam's (or the online cd stores). They came up with the name in the car on the way home from Toronto and liked it.
Their first full-length CD is called "Face Down" after one of the songs on the CD. The guys took a more active role with writing on this CD and Ryan wrote/co-wrote 9 songs, Dan wrote/co-wrote 5 and Stever co-wrote 1 (Sanity). The cover art was done by Ryan and then touched up by an art student
They have 5 videos out currently. Two from "KICKeD" and two from "Face Down". They are (in order): Skidrow, Obsession, Mistake, Deep, Should Have Been Mine.
Skidrow was filmed in a sk8 park in Newmarket. They guys were about 12/13 years old in the video.
Obsession was filmed in July '98 at the park off of Kensington Market in downtown Toronto. The extras are fans and friends and some family members.
Mistake was filmed on Mother's Day '99 in Toronto at a studio. The extras are mostly fans. The girl who kissed Ryan is named Jordan and she is a 22-year old actress. There was also a Ryan double in the video who played Ryan's back and stuff in the double scenes. His name is Brandon.
Deep was filmed on Dan's b-day (August 19th) '99 at the studio. They built all of the sets and shot it in one LONG day. Only family members, friends and ppl who work at the studio are extras in the funeral scene.
Should Have Been Mine was filmed around January 4th, 2000. It was filmed in Toronto. This was the 1st SJ video NOT shot by Dan's cousin Warren. The director for this video was George Vale, (sorry if i messed up the name), who was responsible for such videos as "Superman's Dead" by Our Lady Peace. (Of which Ry had a role in when he was 12)
The guys just finished shooting a made-for-tv-movie for VH-1 (the music station in the US responsible for such shows as Pop-Up Video). The movie is called "Out of Synch". The tentitive release for it on VH-1 is June 12/00...don't worry if you don't get VH-1, it will be released on a Canadian station later. This is the info about it from Aquarius: "The guys finish filming "Out of Synch" a VH-1 made for TV movie starring Gail O'grady from NYPD Blues as Ryan's Mom. Ryan plays Josh and Stever plays his friend Kyle and Dan and Jon play their band. They try to get their demo heard by someone in the industry and Ryan's Mom(Gail) records some vocal tracks that are stolen and used by someone else! It's a cool story and lots of fun! The guys recorded a song called "On Line" for the show and get to perform Mistake during one scene! It is set to air in June on VH-1 and a later date in Canada!
We'll be sure to keep you posted!"
The US CD SHOULD be coming out in July. It is the same as the Canadian CD EXCEPT that they are taking off 6 songs and replacing them with 6 new ones. Don't worry Canadian fans! The 6 new songs will be released on an EP for us...before the American fans...most likely in June. The guys have started to play some of the new songs at concerts. They include, "What I see"; "Absense of Mind";"Silently Screaming"...and the kik major butt!! I love 'Silently Screaming'. Taking me for granted, silently screaming...
