Thanks a million for your kindness in sending to me a copy of your esteemed Signs magazine, plus a copy of Dr Sayed Abdul Wadud's book, "Conspiracies Against The Quran".

I must congratulate you heartily on an excellent magazine. The articles are Thought Provoking, Challenging, and most Logical. Your approaches to the Hadith literature is exactly what I have been propounding for the past 30 years, and have written scores of articles on it - for which I have incurred the hellish wrath of the moulvis! I invite all Muslims to come back to the Holy Quran, so that all our differences, the name-callings, the bitter recriminations and animosities will be eliminated, and we will, all of us, be called simply as Muslims - as Allah has called us in the Quran: (22:78) - and NOT Hanafi, Shaafi'ees, Sunnis, Shias, AhleHadith, etc. etc. Was our Beloved Rasoolullah a "Hanafi or a "Shaafi'ee" I ask this question often of the maulanas, and they have NO answer to it. They only say: "Don't ask such questions, otherwise you'll become a Kaafir!"

I enjoyed reading your Mi'raaj article - in fact all the articles in this issue of Signs are terrific. I also appreciated the humour you have included in the magazine especially the one on "A Maulvi Writes". It was hilarious!

I recently stumbled across one of your issue (Issue No. 10) recently, and just wanted to say I totally agree with your views of Islam and that all sects of Islam should unite together and follow' the teachings of the Quran and worship only Allah and Him alone.

However to worship Allah, we must follow certain 'hadith' as the Quran does not explain about salah. Therefore there must be some certain 'authentic' hadith, which we must follow. In one of the issues you mention that we must go back to the Quran and the genuine 'hadith'. Can you please tell me which genuine 'hadith' they are and by which methodology you have come to regard these as the 'hadith' to follow?

I particularly found your magazine quite open-minded and thoughtful and appreciate the letters column where no bias is shown. Keep up the Good Work for Signs Magazine.

Often I find your magazine very offensive and anti-Islamic, you write with lacking of knowledge and are either paid to mislead the readers or you are actually against Islam, which is sad to see someone who is prepared to waste money and effort to fight a religion, which is supported by the superior power.

However, may Allah guide you all to the right path if you actually know it, remember that the hypocrites are the first in the hell-fire, and Allah knows best.

Like Muslims throughout the world. The Publishers of signs magazine are totally devoted to God alone. This is evident from the pages of Signs, which are graced by verses of the Quran. Every point we make, we endeavour to take guidance from the Quran. Is this what you find offensive? Since you have not supported your views with any examples, it is difficult to tell what exactly you do not like. Editor

I'm writing in reference to an article that was printed in your issue No. 1 titled 'The Best Hadith', it's a very interesting article, something that can shake some Muslims. I'm incarcerated in the Michigan Penal System, and have been placed as the Imam of the Ummah, Alhamdu-Lillah. One of the brothers brought the article to me. My question and comment to thc article is, the
person that wrote it isn't dogmatic to say that Bukhari, Sahih, Muslim and others were trying to match the Quran in anyway. Without the Hadith that was recorded, how would the Muslims know how to do certain things that are not revealed in the Quran? Some of the verses he used could be applied to those who try and produce false scriptures or place other books such as hadith above the Quran?

Hadith as a subject has been dealt with quite thoroughly in the previous issues of Signs. Back copies are available on request. Editor

Politics is for politicians, Just as ulema's role is to preach and guide people how to live their lives. The problem today is that nobody is doing their job. We need a change of vision not a change of image.

I refer to a short letter from Usma Aslam of Glasgow, Scotland (Issue 12, December l996) which said, "The veil of silence is a very quiet one, so listen to it carefully."

I am at a loss as to the meaning of this short quote but imagine what would have happened if God Almighty had chosen to maintain a veil of silence towards Mankind. And what would have happened if God's Chosen Messengers like Muhammad and Jesus had chosen to maintain a veil of silence instead of delivering the Message that was entrusted to them.

In the Quran, God Almighty never maintains a veil of silence. And there were no Messengers of God who chose this type of behaviour either. Before He totally destroyed any transgressing people, God always sent sufficient warning to them. The Messengers always did their job.

We do note however that thc ulema have been keeping totally silent over many important issues. Is this the veil of silence that Usma Aslam wants us to listen to?

There can never be any veil anywhere in this world that is going to silence the awesome
Quranic truth. It is simply not possible. The age of the Quran has arrived again. The ulema are on their way out. For those who are still in doubt please listen to this carefully.

What has Dr. Mahathir's speech got to do with Signs magazine? (Issue 13). I believe the word of God can stand alone and does not need a celebrity or politician to support a magazine which represents the Quran alone. Or has Signs forgotten it's role?

Should we lose sight of our purpose I am sure there will be many to remind us. In all fairness the Prime Minister did make some valid points. Editor

I have just received issue 12 of Signs. This is the only magazine of it's kind and I would like to make a few suggestions:

More articles with verses related about the subject to promote Quran should be included. Arabic text should appear as the essence and power conveyed through Arabic is not the same as that of translations, furthermore it would be easy to check if the translation is accurate.

There is a strong need for learning Arabic. Perhaps you could include grammar rules. Please include the names of staff, contributors. By being anonymous you give a mysterious impression!

Your points are valid and deserve due consideration. Many of our readers are not familiar with Arabic and as our aim is to get the message across by giving information rather than by impression we use one language which is easily understood by vast majority of people throughout the world. Readers who have a further interest can readily obtain a Quran in Arabic to read or check the quotations we use.

We often use the name of our contributors. Sometimes we are asked not to do so as the writer feels the message is more important than a credit to their name. In such a case we have to respect their request. Editor
