DOES
ANYONE REALLY KNOW WHEN THE WORLD WILL END?
In the Bible Jesus said, "Of that day or hour no one knows...." Mark 13.32.
Muhammad too was asked about the
Last Hour:
They ask you about the Hour, and when it will come! Say, "
Only my Lord possess such knowledge. None can reveal its time
except He. Heavy indeed is such an event, in the heavens and the
earth, and it will not come to you except suddenly. " They
ask you if you are cognizant thereof. Say, "The knowledge
thereof is with God alone, but most people do not know. (Al-Araaf
7:187)
So it is clear that only God knows
when the Final Hour will be. Anyone who claims to have this
knowledge is without a doubt an imposter.
Muhammad did not know the future but
simply observed God teachings. Say (O Muhammad) "I do not
claim that I possess the treasure of God, nor do I know the
future, nor do I claim to be an angel. I simply follow what is
revealed to me... " (A1-Anaam 6.50)
The following verses of the Quran
confirm that the ultimate knowledge is only with God.
God is the only one who knows about
the Hour, no one else knows what will happen tomorrow. (Luqman
31:34).
The people ask you about the Hour;
say: "only God knows about it. " You may not realize
it, but the Hour may be very close. (Al-Ahzaab 33:63).
The Hour is coming; no doubt about
it; but most people do not believe. (Ghaafir 40:59).
Challenging it are those who do not
believe in it. But those who believe are concerned about it, and
recognize it as the inevitable truth. (A1-Shoora 42:18).
Most exalted is the One who
possesses the dominions of the heavens and the earth and
everything in between them. Only He knows when the Hour will
come. To Him is the ultimate return. (AL-Zukhruf 43:85).
They ask you about the Hour. You
have no way of knowing it. Only your lord controls its destiny.
(Al N aazi' aat 79:42-44).
The day will come when disbeliever's
will be shown hellfire. "Is this not the truth?" They
will say, "Yes indeed, by our Lord. "He will then say,
"?'His is what you deserve for disbelieving. "
Therefore be patient, like the messengers who possessed strength,
and do not be eager to see the punishment. When the appointed day
comes, and they see the retribution promised to them, it will
seem as if they lasted one hour of the day. This is the
declaration; is it not the wicked who are doomed? (AlAhqaf
46:34-35).
The pseudo-prophets seem to be
obsessed with predicting the future -possibly to add weight to
their claim of divine messengership.
All we need to do is to believe in
the One God and live our life according to his revealed
instructions. We do not need to know when the world will end. You
may not realize it, but the Hour may he very close.
(Al-Ahzaab 33:63).
