The guardians of Princess Serenity: Artemis, Luna, and Diana!
During the fall of the Silver Millenium, two cats were chosen to find and protect the Moon Princess. Little did the cats know that the Moon Princess was Serena...known to the rest of the world as Sailor Moon.
Luna was the first cat to appear in the Sailor Moon series. She is a black cat with the moon crescent upon her forehead. The moon crescent is the symbol of the Moon Kingdom.
Luna's mission is to find the Moon Princess. Luna leads Sailor Moon to eight other people who also represent each of the planets. Four of these Sailor Scouts represent the inner senshi:
Sailor Mercury (Mizuno Ami)
Sailor Venus (Minako Aino)
Sailor Mars (Rei Hino)
Sailor Jupiter (Makoto Kino)
The other four represent the outer senshi:
Sailor Saturn (Tomoe Hotaru)
Sailor Uranus (Ten'ou Haruka)
Sailor Neptune (Kaiou Michiru)
Sailor Pluto (Meiou Setsuna)
Along comes another cat to help Luna in her mission. His name is Artemis!
Artemis is a white cat who, like Luna, has the moon crescent symbol upon his forehead. Artemis is the protector of the Moon Princess. However, he primarily showed up at the introduction to Minako Aino (also known as Sailor Venus). It was Artemis who taught Minako Aino how to use her skills to become Sailor V.
Later in the series, a third cat becomes the descendent of Artemis and Luna. Diana is born!
Diana is a pinkish-purple cat who also wears the moon crescent symbol upon her forehead. It is said that Meiou Setsuna (also known as Sailor Pluto) sent Diana through time to accompany and protect Tsukino Usagi (Sailor Moon) and Chibi-Usagi (Chibi Moon)
Thus completes the cat family of Artemis, Diana and Luna!
