1:16 scale Luftwaffe Fighter Ace

Adolph Galland

Model by: Anthony Manzoli

This kit comes from Tamiya's line of 1:16 scale figures.  I had fun building and painting this excellent figure by Tamiya.  The kit comes with two heads one with mustache, and one without and a flat head for the Luftwaffe dress hat.  I chose the more familiar of the two Galland heads with his trademark mustache.  I painted the face first using oil paints and allowed it to dry for a few days before handling it.  That is the only draw back with oils the drying time, but the finish is incomparable.   The uniform was preshaded with Gunze matt black and then painted with Tamiya medium blue.  When the uniform was dry I painted all the details such as medals and ribbons.  Next I painted the life jacket with Humbrol yellow gelbe, and affixed it to the torso.  The gloves and boots were painted with Gunze flat black.  When the head was dry to touch I super glued it to the body and mounted the figure on a small base.  when all was complete I gave him a couple of coats of Johnson's Magic Shine mixed with Tamiya Flat base, in a 8:1 ratio.  I really enjoyed this kit and it's a break from building planes and A.F.V.s.
