[Grover is out in the snow at night, shivering. He’s probably saying how cold he is and wondering aloud how to get warm.
He knocks at the door of Kermit’s house. The scene changes to the living room, where Kermit is sitting by the fire.]
Kermit: I wonder who could be outside on a dreadful, cold night like this?
[He gets up and opens the door.]
[Forgotten lines. Grover asks Kermit how to get warm.]
Kermit: Grover, come inside!
[Grover steps inside, and Kermit closes the door.]
Grover: All right, I am inside. Now, will you please tell me how to get warm?
Kermit: But, Grover ...
[Grover suddenly interrupts with an idea on how to get warm. He’ll do running and jumping exercises in the snow!
As Kermit tries to protest, Grover runs out and closes the door behind him. The scene changes to outside the house.]
Grover: Let’s see. Running up and down and jumping and jumping!
[Yes, I believe that those were Grover’s exact words! He begins jumping and running in place.
Forgotten lines?]
Grover: I am still cold, all over my body!
[Forgotten lines? He knocks at the door. Kermit answers it, and Grover again asks him how to get warm.]
Kermit: Grover, come inside!
[Grover steps inside, and Kermit closes the door.]
Grover: All right, I am inside again. Now, will you please tell me how to get warm?
Kermit: But, Grover ...
Grover: Wait, I know! Your earmuffs over there! I’ll just go and put your earmuffs on. That’ll make me warm!
[As Kermit again tries to protest, Grover runs offscreen and comes back wearing the earmuffs, probably a pair he forced on Kermit while selling them door-to-door! Grover goes outside and closes the door behind him. Again the scene changes to outside the house.]
Grover: These earmuffs should keep my ears nice and toasty warm. [Pause.] My ears are nice and toasty warm, mmm-hmmm! [Longer pause.] But the rest of me is freezing! [Pounds on the door.] Kermit! Kermit!
[Kermit comes to the door and steps outside. Forgotten lines.]
Kermit: Grover, come inside!
Grover [finally losing all patience]: Why?
Kermit: Because it’s warm inside! Inside, it’s warm. Outside, it’s cold. If you want to get warm, you come inside.
[Forgotten lines. Grover runs into the house, but slams the door before Kermit can reach it! Kermit tries to open the door, but it’s locked. He knocks, but there’s no answer. Scene changes to the living room, where Grover, still wearing the earmuffs, is sitting by the fire.]
Grover [contentedly]: Oh, so toasty warm I feel!
[Through the window we see Kermit, tapping on the pane and calling to Grover, who doesn’t notice a thing!]
