Pool I Round-Robin Game
Game 1
Ancrik goes for a setup of quite ordinary standards with a low ghol-count while Ascension tries for the all-too-chic pus 'n' satchels. Ancrik decides to fake a newbie rush (as to why this reviewer does not comprehend) but lets some ghols through. One wight is lost due to poor attention by the archer-handler, one due to fast movement by Ascension's western ghol pack and a third, and last, Ancrik wight is lost on the west side of the wall. Ascension put up all their warriors in a shallow encirclement near the center and start moving their forces still back at the starting point. Two "wights on the rocks" are served by Ascension in the west depths, but Ancrik's scuba thrall manage to hunt them down in or out of the water. In the rear, Ascension's lone dwarf is harrassed by a ghol of Ancrik's, but beats the attacker off. The dwarf is later disposed off and never sees any real action. An archer duel breaks out in center and Ascension moves in its satchel 'n' pus armed ghol pack from the west and bombs a large group of Ancrik's thrall. The bomb does, however, does very little damage, a mere 5%, to Ancrik compared to the noise it makes and kills off the remainder of Ascension's ghols. Ascension tries to decide the archer duel in their favour by sending thrall and warriors to kill the archers, but Ancrik holds its ground well and "melts" it's melee through the archer line well to counter. Shortly after the archer harassers have been killed, Ascension charges. The formations of warriors and thrall move back and forth a bit before actual combat is initiated. An Ancrik wight rises out of the deep eastern waters, and it spotted and chased by an Anscension warrior, but is not popped, flees to deeper waters and comes back again to do much damage to Ascension's fighting warriors. The advantage that Ancrik has is clear, but their archers manage to do quite a lot of harm to their own troops. The game ends just as Ancrik's percentage drops from 40% to 38%, robbing them of another bouns point. Game 2
The second game of the series seem some interesting setups for both teams. Ancrik goes for no wights at all and full thrall, warriors and ghols with an archer compliment. Ascension tries for four dwarves, pus and an otherwise mixed selection. Ascension does have disturbingly low amounts of melee, however. Ancrik sends the tested 1/3 warriors to each crossing with ghols to north and south and with some thrall support on each flank. All archers go center. Ascension does a somewhat sloppy 1/3-split in all directions. Both north and south flanks of Ancrik harass Ascension and kill off dwarves, while the center force moves across the bridge. A charge is made, and it is obvious from the start that Ascension does not stand a chance with its meager melee amount of melee. With the exception of minor trouble to the north and some pussed archers, Ancrik swiftly finishes off Ascension and wins the game with all flags and full points. Game 3
Ascension gets the lucrative position in the southwest in this game as Ancrik gets the slightly inferior southeast. Ascension moves a large force to the south and grabs the south flag just before Ancrik's berserks arrive. A minor fight occurs with Ascension emerging victorious. Both teams take their flank flags (IV to the west and III to the east) and establish themselves in center. Ancrik decides to guard flag III (east). The two forces in center try to outmaneuver each other and Ancrik is very close to taking flag I (center west), but it is contested in the nick of time. Ancrik sends a trow to take the west (IV) flag. After some skirmishing in center both teams get each other's center flag and steam off to take a fifth. Ancrik's trow stomp their way towards flag V (south) while Ascension dashes for III (east). Ascension manage to send reinforcement of one trow to defend the tiny force in the south and win just enough time to capture their fifth flag before Ancrik does. Match Summary (films)
Ascension lose quite badly to Ancrik in the first and second games, but reclaim some of their lost pride by squeezing ahead to a victory in the third game. - The Crimson King
